All this talk of the pets we own reminded me of this old chestnut: I was in Asda buying a large bag of Pedigree Dog Biscuits and was in the queue at the check out. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog........errrr……… I was feeling a bit crabby so, on impulse, I told her no, I was starting The Pedigree Dog Biscuit Diet again. I continued the story by saying that I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital last time I tried the diet, but, that I'd lost 50 pounds before waking up in an intensive care unit with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IV’s in both arms. Her eyes about popped out of her head. I went on and on with the bogus diet story and she was totally buying it. I told her that it was an easy, inexpensive diet and that the way it works is to load your pockets or purse with biscuits and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The package said the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. I have to mention here that practically everyone in the queue was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy behind her. Horrified, she asked if something in the dog food had poisoned me and was that why I ended up in the hospital. I calmly said no..... I'd been sitting in the street licking my balls when a car hit me! I thought the tall guy was going to have to be carried out the door Disclaimer: This is all made up. Please don’t try this at home
Poor Meka! Back in April we noticed a lump on Meka's left shoulder when petting her. It grew to the point where it was visibly noticeable, pushing up her coat. After a visit to the vet last week, surgery was scheduled. It was just a cyst. The vet excised it and stitched her up. It was day surgery done under a local anesthetic and a bit of something to keep her calm. The vet assured us it was benign and didn't even feel a biopsy was warranted. Here she is convalescing and weathering the effects of the tranq.
There is a baby bunny in the kennel. It's living under the wood pile. We have to be careful when we let Meka out to relieve herself. We have to go in first and chase the bunny back under the wood. Meka wants to meet the bunny SO BAD! But it probably wouldn't turn out well for the bunny.
That is a GREAT photo of Meka and the bunny, @Fork Lock. I'm quite sure you are correct that the bunny would have the short end of the stick if she and Meka met more "personally".
Our dog sitter is so awesome! She loves Ellie and Ellie loves here. Here's a photo she sent to us while we were on our recent tour of the southwest motorcycle trip.
Thanks for cleaning up the "Our Pets" thread spam, @Havit. Now to get this thread rolling and active again.... Here's Miss Ellie, doing what she does best.
This is my lovely little pooch Mavis. She's 3-1/2 years old, and when asked I call her a "Mohawk Terrier." She's been to 23 US States so far, all in the camper van. I usually carry a bike of some kind on a rack at the back of the van, and Mavis sometimes goes for motorcycle rides. thumbnail_IMG_3430 by Marco Wikstrom, on Flickr thumbnail_IMG_3425 by Marco Wikstrom, on Flickr thumbnail_IMG_3422 by Marco Wikstrom, on Flickr
@Marco Wikstrom OMG, she's absolutely adorable! From that 1st photo, it looks like Mavis is a big fan of traveling, Marco. Do you have any photos of her riding on the motorcycle??
No photos of her on the motorcycle. She rides in a MC pet carrier which is fully enclosed, but she can see out.
I snapped this photo of Ellie yesterday while putting away our Christmas decorations. This dog and snowman duo "sings and dances" which makes Ellie intensely curious.
