I have had many bikes over the years but I just bought my first Triumph, its a 2012 Bonneville SE. I'm from Toronto Ontario Canada and still a bit crappy to be riding so I have not put insurance on it yet but will be in a couple of weeks. I also have a Royal Enfield, and a few other vintage motorcycles of Japanese origin. Been riding close to 50 years off and on. As a Canadian I am discussed in my Government not holding up our end of the bargain with NATO not supporting our military with the 2.0% GDP and that we rely so heavily on the US and European Countries especially in these times. I just wanted to get that out of the way. I also want to ask a question about changing engine side covers on my bike, I'm just not sure where to post that question. Thanks Karl Squire Ok I'm just back to edit it , I just saw I can ask tech questions here. If you look at my Triumph in the pics I posted you can see the Engine covers are not chrome, I would like to change them all out for chrome ones I would probably do this slowly or one at a time or all at once depending on where I can find them. My question is What year Bonneville will fit, the mostly appear to be the same but I'm not a 100% sure of that.
Hi and welcome, can't help with your question I am afraid, but I am sure people who can will see this and be more useful than me!!
Hi and welcome. You will likely get more responses if you post any question you have in the technical thread
Welcome from South of the Border. Your border, that is. It's a matter of taste, but I like the look of the side covers as they are.
Welcome, Karl! I have to agree with Fork Lock; I like the "pewter" finish on the covers as they are. I am not a fan of the chromed-to-death look that some (typically Harley) riders prefer. As you can see from my bike, the only chrome is the muffler/catalytic converter! PS. I'm also from NJ (Northwest NJ). Hmmm.
Hmmm ya know it may have something to do with the fact that I have just seen some many T100's with the chrome covers, I just love them. hmmmm I may come to apricate the pewter more in time, lots of times I thought I wanted something on my bike, then I did it and well it was not quite what I thought it would be, I think what I'm going to do is just keep my eyes open for the chrome covers if I get them cheap, like off a reck and I can polish out the scratches than I'll buy them other than that, I'm probably just going to leave it as it is, after all I bought the bike because of the bike, not just based solei on how it looked.
Hi there. Nice bikes. Don't know about chrome but I have been watching someone changing out for black, as that's a consideration for me. The interesting one is the rotor cover as the stator coils are mounted in the cover. The clutch side is probably best done when you are servicing as will require an oil change.
I forgot about this stuff. If you have the time and don't mind using a little elbow grease, Master Formula will put a mirror finish on aluminum and make it look like chrome. Rub it on with a terry cloth rag (a lot of rubbing). Wait till it dries, then buff. After buffing apply the sealer to preserve the finish. I haven't used it on the Triumph, but I have used it on aluminum on other bikes. It works as advertised. Cheaper than new covers too.
Dammm I love this Forum, everyone is say the original covers are preferd, I'm going to have to re consider, my judgment maybe impairt because of all my brothers Harleys .
