What are the best slip on silencers and decat pipes?
    Any advice much appreciated.
    Cheers.

I went with Yoshimura and would recommend it to anyone.

I actually can’t remember, because a while after taking it out I had to put it back in. It’s was just far too loud without it.

Pipes are quite personal and lots to choose from.

I have a GRMoto end can on my Daytona (and m6 Yamaha XSR) and would recommend it this brand as a potentially cheaper alternative. They are quite loud but can be tamed with a DB Killer.

GRMoto only sell on eBay and they have a 30% off sale at the moment.

Has anyone measured the sound level of their aftermarket cans? If so what reading did you get standing 2m or thereabouts from the exhaust outlet?

The app that I use on my iPhone is simply called Decibel Meter

Good idea, I will give this a try with my GRMoto. I have now downloaded the app for Android but are we talking tick over or revving to a specific RPM?

I got fed up with having to repack and refinish the carbon fibre sleeves every time on my Ducati so the last time I did it I modified them. Originally they comprise a perforated tube end to end wrapped in a fine stainless steel mesh which is then wrapped in a sound absorbent material, all encased in the carbon fibre sleeves.

My mod is simply a 60mm stainless steel tube slid over the perforated tube and it’s mesh and sealed against each end cap. This prevents any exhaust gas getting to the packing which then becomes solely thermal insulation.

On tickover it read 89 Db with a max of 93 on blipping it. Not a great increase you might think but remember the Db scale is logarithmic. IMG_5431.jpeg

I have just tested my Daytona T595/955i with the GRMoto end can and baffle in place.

Circa 80dB at idle and 88dB with a blip.

    And without the baffle?:D

Your bike is the first Hinkley machine that I ever had a clutch at. Before I bought my Ducati in 01 which heralded my return to riding after a 30 year break (houses to buy, children to raise etc, etc).

Apart from the different sound produced what measurable benefits does an aftermarket end can or even full system give on our 765s?

It's all about the sound, for me anyway. I'm not going to notice the effect of a 3kg weight loss or sub 5% power increase.

Sound and looks for me. I like mine as it makes the bike look "cleaner".

Did you have to do a remap with the scorpion?
And agreed, it does look better. That said the standard can looks ok.

Sound and aesthetics I totally understand, together with the psychological effect i.e. I have gone to all this trouble and cost therefore it must be performing better:joy:

As to reality, is it really possible for us mere mortals to recognise the improved performance, let alone use it on the road.

The 12 minute tune, is that just letting the bike idle for 12 mins then turning off and restarting?
