15 tooth front counter sprocket, one less tooth than the gen2 stock 16T, for ~6.5% shorter gearing. Of course, you can't duplicate how Triumph shortened 2-4, but barely on 5-6. So if you have gen2, it's like $25 to get a 15T and do some custom gear shortening yourself, is what I was joking about.
Thanks for the clarification. Going down a tooth on the gearbox sprocket is also a popular mod on my Ducati. Browsing through my owner’s manual recently for drive chain tension details I notice that Triumph refer to the front sprocket as the “engine sprocket” whereas I would refer to it as the gearbox sprocket as it sits on the gearbox main shaft, or would on yesteryear’s machines. I guess for the benefit of less mechanically minded owners than us?
Nah speed comes from the ABS sensors for (modern) Triumphs, afaik. If I understand correctly, 2024 for Canada/US(/Mexico?), and 2023 for everyone else. Like how the USA 2018 was 2017 everywhere else. Engine brake control, I think it's user selectable DFCO (dynamic fuel cut-off), ie how much engine braking happens. If ecu feeds a bit of fuel while off throttle, much less engine braking. If ecu cuts fuel, maximum engine braking.
I know, it’s confusing. I recently ordered a 2024 from a dealer. The new bikes won’t be released until circa Apr 2023 in the US. The 2023 is already out here. It is the carbon black edition. I think the new edition with different colors will be released earlier in other parts of the world, hence 2023, but in the US it will be the 2024.
Just something different about the naming convention in the US. All the Brit reviewers call the new R, RS and Moto2 versions the 2023. In Australia, I'm not expecting mine until late Feb or Mar 2023. It will be MY23 here. The black one with the bronze wheels is MY22. I have the first edition of the black and fluro RS and it's a MY20 Confusing for sure.
I have just had an e mail inviting me to test ride the new Street Moto 2, I will take the offer up, however very doubtful I will ever buy one.
Having seen one in the flesh yesterday - I could not have imagined that paint could possibly be as bright as it was!!! I don't think I could live with the colour of the yellow one and I love yellow bikes......
The RS Cosmic Yellow is "typical yellow" (one might say yellow-orange). Moto2 leans heavily towards highlighter green. Look at the paint vs the yellow rear shock spring.
I can see that the Moto2 will not be for everybody. If it were my only ride I might choose the RS instead. But, mine will just be a toy for short rides 2/3 times a week. When will you get to ride it? I would love to see some pics and hear your opinion. edit: The whole time I've had the RS, I wanted and IMU, cruise control, ohlins front end, clipons, a bit more power. Triumph ticked all my boxes and then some. I couldn't let it pass.
Lots of people complained about the black and fluro, I love it. I really like the RS in the new red and cosmic yellow. The yellow Moto2 will stand out in a crowd... like it or not
Love that - great for riders with my limited experience level to see your road positioning, approach to bends etc as well.
