So the bike started OK and runs now with TEC cam. Weather permitting a short test run tomorrow. Plan to run in it with the DNK tune i got for a stock bike, after that i have a dyno tuned SW to download. It was made for a decat CUP with TEC cam. I am not planning to decat but the small difference in back pressure should not do a major differance. After a couple of runs will take the cam cover of just to check everything is good in there. Idle is more "lumpy" than before, in a good way.

Thanks for posting this, I'm looking forward to hearing how it all goes. I'd be interested to know how it is with the stock tune because that's what I will most likely do, but any information is good information.

    Enjoy:)

Maybe this thread should be what have you done with your Triumph recently, I say that only because my life rarely lets me post on the day that I get to do anything with my trusty Street Cup.

Anyway, on Thursday I checked the chain and tyre pressures and set off with mate Colin to take advantage of the grey but dry forecast and took our bikes up to Flash Bar stores.

Colin's had a rotten riding year this year. His Guzzi California decided to throw an electrical fault that confused various engineers just before the DGR. He only got the bike back towards the end of September!

Traffic was busier than we would have liked, and the forecast lied because the clouds leaked as we were riding up the Cat & Fiddle from Macclesfield, which slowed the pace a little but probably kept me within my rusty talents.

When we got there we found some other gentlemen had had the same idea. Well why not?

    IMG_2964.jpg

After a traditional English brunch and Hot Chocolate (always good up there), it was on to Leek, back up towards Macclesfield and cutting through some lanes to Gorstage, then back towards Congleton, pick up the new bypass (lovely tarmac and sweeping bends), then on to Holmes Chapel and back to home in the Northwich area.

It was a great ride and really cleared the mind from all the hassles of the last month or so, that's kept me too busy to ride.

I'm still glad I got my bike:)

Gave the Speed Twin a good 100 mile run today, along with a chain lube and general clean when I got back home. It’s going away for the winter and will probably be going up for sale next year. My ageing knees and lower back are playing up at the moment, why could Triumph have brought this bike out 10yrs ago? ATTACH=full]153866[/ATTACH]

Thanks. I will probably not try the stock tune, but lots of good reviews from people doing it.

Just another run out into the sticks after giving the bike a good clean. What a great time of year and perfect conditions for riding we have at the moment. Dry roads, unseasonably mild weather, unbroken sunshine and a landscape swaithed in beautiful Autumnal colours. I got to feeling quite poetic on the way home!:joy:

Same thing .. intermittently ! After curing the (common, apparently) wiring on Speed Triples not having enough freeplay around the steering head, causing chafing and starting problems, it began doing the same awhile later. Yep, terminal screw, not loose.. but not tight, tight.

How's this for coincidence, a few hours after the above I get a call from an old mate a coupla hundred miles away, wondering if I may have any ideas on why a Sprint has begun doing the same annoyances ? Hopefully his are as simple !

After cleaning bike today I set about doing a service. New oil and filter, new air filters, spark plug check and throttle body balance check (3% difference in manifold pressure so will adjust, but on another day as it’s a couple of hours faff to get access).

I was working my way down the 10,000 mile checklist and almost didn’t bother with wheel spoke check as did that a few weeks ago when had wheels off to get new tyres fitted, but did it anyway. Good job I did as one on the rear was bust. :( Maybe broken when tyre was fitted, or just a coincidence.

Fortunately, spokes are available as an OEM part and on the rear they are easily accessible (maybe just need to remove sprocket carrier.). Whilst I was at it also ordered a new nipple in case that needs replacing due to corrosion.

My plan is to fit new spoke with similar tension to those around it and sanity check rim runout, hopefully things will look true and not require more complicated adjustment or expert attention.

When you do your check dont forget to check rim runout in two dimensions, laterally and radially ;)

(Think side to side wobble and egg shape)
