well the dreaded happened - went out for a blast with me pal and his newly acquired KTM 690SMR - lovely back road trip to Lytham ST Anns - ( cuppa tea and a sticky bun ) , having a sensible but fun squirt back through Great Mitton and then some gentleman decided to T- Bone me from a pub car park. god knows how my pal squeezed past him and my last minute braking and swerving saved me from going right through his drivers door 1stly - I was wearing Kevlar top and jeans and it did the job brilliantly 2nd - I had a open helmet on and landed on the back of my head ( never again ) 3rd and most importantly the Scrambler took a right battering and the car come off worse !!! the driver has accepted full responsibility so I guess its down to the insurance company to sort. Shame as I had really fallen for the charm and character of the scrambler - 900 miles in and 3 months of ownership. Thankfully just a very purple, swollen leg and a tender body to recover after an X-Ray wonder if they will write her off with the following damage or patch her up ? Tank dented in forks scratched exhaust scratched ( heat covers ) Arrow rocker cover scratched front disc scratched bell housing damaged indicator lenses cracked ( lol ) bent brake pedal, clutch lever and foot pegs Regards
Ouch indeed! I am hoping for a quick recover for you. I guess you didn't have a camera on to make sure there is no doubt over who was at fault. Being t-boned I would have thought the damage would have been a lot worse! I guess she is still rideable, as it sounds like it is all cosmetic. I wouldn't have thought it would be a write off though. ...and only 900 on the clock
There was slightly too much damage on me and the bike to ride so it's been recovered and awaiting inspection The driver has accepted full responsibility and the police have charged him with driving without due care
sorry to hear this James, but it could have been a lot worse, so i guess you have been lucky in one way
He did pal - I'm in the process of starting all the aftermath now- I have the kit on my insurance so hopefully it should get replaced
Everyone's worst nightmare sounds as if it could have been a lot worse Hope you and the bike get better soon
Glad it wasn't any worse, James. Bad enough, I know, but at least you are up and about and able to talk about it. Good luck to you and get well soon.
Ha ha have it .... What annoyed me most I checked he and his family were okay first and he never approached me to check. !!
Close one there glad to hear all is ok and in process of getting sorted out, as said could have been a lot worse, glad your bike held on to some proof(front number plate) could of been very handy !!
Hi James, I'm really sorry to hear about that and glad you got away relatively lightly! I hope everything goes smoothly with the claim and your back riding again soon! And especially on a Scrambler!!! Matt
Glad you are reasonably ok. Pity about the bike but glad to hear he admitted liability. Also glad the police charged him. GWS James
On the up side, not your fault, he put his hand up to it, the plods are going to wring him out. He probably got breathalysed (I think this is now procedure for all accidents), so it'll be even worse if red light came up, and if so he'll be off the road for a while. Still doesn't make the situation any better but at least you walked/limped away so keep calm, cheer up and wait for the payout
Bummer James , Hope you are back in the saddle asap and you have many years of accident free riding ahead of you.
Sorry to hear this mate but pleased that you are more or less OK and pretty much in one piece! The twat who caused me to come off the Bonnie last year never stopped and no one got his reg - police tried to find him but no luck.
