When ethanol was added to petrol it could cause the plastic tank to swell and distort. Usually became evident when the tank was removed during servicing and could not be refitted without modification.

sorry to disappoint you, but no. Haven’t made the decision yet. Photos are from when the current owner purchased it.

I see it is a T509 so 885cc then, same as mine. What is that marking on bodywork below the seat? If you don't mind me asking, what price were they asking?

Y’all will be pleased to know I went through with the gamble and purchased the bike.

lots to do to give it some love.

1st up is a minor oil leak around the sump. Anyone put a guide up on here on changing the sump gasket?

Anyone know how to change the front indicators? Is it a tank off job?

    Hey,

I am intrigued, why would you think the tank needs to come off? There should be bullet connectors 6-10 inches along the wires and the indicators have a nut and washer on the back.

    Cheers

I am curious, as I undo the screw that holds this cover on, I then can’t completely remove it. Does it just require force? I don’t want to pull it off and risk breaking it.
Not sure how to get the cover off of the grille that the Indicators are fed through on either side. There’s one bolt that holds it just behind the forks. Do I just yank them off? I’m conscious of breaking the cover.

Most Triumph panels of this era are screwed on with Allen bolts. Mine is slightly different being the full fairing Daytona version but I believe the indicators are the same, so you either take the panel off with a couple of bolts or ideally slip an open ended spanner behind to release the indicator stalk.

Yea,! Have bought a replacement like the one pictured. There’s one Alan bolt I’ve removed but the cover doesn’t seem to want to come off! I’ll try and get behind it!

Each panel should have a chrome quarter turn fastener at the top. Just turn it by hand and pull it out.

Not sure if I’m being too gentle but there is masses of resistance around where the indicator is sat. You can pull around the edges but the cover with the indicator attached won’t come off.
