What a lovely rambling day, @Mrs Visor! And "rambling" on a motorcycle is definitely NOT a negative thing. :) All good practice, too. Every mile is--or at least can be.

I think it's great that you document your rides. I sort of wish I'd done that, at least early on. I've logged every single scuba dive I've done and found the info I keep to be very useful (water temp and wet suit mm choice, how much weight to use with what type of tank, etc.) when planning for current dives and conditions. It has been super helpful over the years. Plus sometimes I just simply enjoy looking back and my log and reliving memories.

So glad that Bike Safe course turned out to be such a great experience. And it totally makes sense to me that having a professional assess you honestly serves to help you believe in yourself and what you can do. I'm sure that's very confidence-inspiring! :grinning:

Glad to know that Mrs. V is getting out with you again this spring, @Vulpes! And hats off to you for letting her get used to the bike and riding and for not pushing her when she's not ready. Mr. Sandi was great when I started, too. He didn't push and was very patient. But would help me raise the bar bit by bit when I was ready. He also understood very well to not change or add more than a thing or two at any one time. I really appreciated that. Please give my best to Mrs. V and tell her I hope that the two of you have a great trip in France!

Awesome, @Dawsy!!! You must be so excited. As I've said before, there's nothing quite like getting a new bike to make one feel like a little kid again. Enjoy!! And we're looking forward to more photos of that bike along with some commentary on what you think about it.

I am meticulous with my dive log - I am doing similar with the bike, don't know if it will be indefinite but I like it at the moment!! I am a whisker off my first 1000miles on the Striple :grinning:.

I try to keep a log of tyres to see what mileage I'm getting out of them, usually loose track though :joy:

Are you going for road 5 or 6 on the Striple to come? I like the mileage I get out of my 5's. That and the overall performance.

Would probably favour the road 5's because of the faster turn in. The street changes direction like a house fly after all! I loved the ride of the standard bike so much on the supercorsas though, I've bought a set of rosso 4's (never tried them) in the hope they give a similar ride and can at least get a couple of thousand out of them for the scotland tour.

The mrs.' Striple has got ContiSportAttack 3's on - not a bad tyre at all, and as long as I don't nick that bike from her too often those are going to last a loooong time!

No plans today apart from getting out on the Explorer.
From home in Cheshire down to Baffle Haus, which is a bikers cafe / hang out / clothing store near Pontypool, South Wales. Worth a ride out and ideally located south of the Brecon Beacons so some good riding nearby.
I then headed west and over the Black Mountain on the A4069 which according the MCN is one of the UKs best biking roads…..I’m not about to dispute that, always enjoy a ride over there.
Then it was further west over to Lampeter, up to Devils Bridge and another onto cracking road the A44 to Llagurig.
380mile trip and making good use of a day off work
Wales has some brilliant roads, although it can get very busy in summer weekends.
Today was a cracking day to to be out there, roads not at all busy and mostly good weather - 2 heavy showers, but nothing to spoil a great days biking.

Congrats on nearly the 1000 mile mark on your Striple, @Mrs V! How many miles did you do on the bikes you were riding before the Striple?

Yes, logging can be helpful in many ways and fun in that you can really mark your progress and relive memories. But I was thinking about the difference for me between logging dives and logging rides. I've averaged about 40 dives per year over the 17-ish years that I've been diving and have logged 640 dives. But I couldn't even begin to calculate how many rides I've done over the years (11) and miles (right around 100,000). That would be a LOT of log entires! That said, it would be fun to have at least logged early on as you're doing to be able to go back relive some of those early adventures and experiences.

I am curious....what information are you including in your riding log entires?

Just looking .. and looking ... doing other things .. going back and looking ... cuts some firewood .. back to looking ...... scratching head .... wondering why, with all the technology of today, why can't the ferkin' things repair themselves ??

    Yesterday was riding it.

    Today was washing it.

Riding it was more fun. I may just stick to this part in future.

Nothing as detailed as my dive logs @Sandi T - just where I went, miles done, total miles and anything of particular note.

I didn't log the mileage on the bikes before the Striple but I think probably in the region of about 3000 in the 4.5 months I rode them. Hopefully I'll get lots on the Striple this summer, passing my test at the end of January means the weather's often been a bit cruel so haven't got out quite as often as I'd like or as far as I'd like yet!!

I commuted to work today, very chilly this morning at 0620 but gorgeous on the way home this afternoon. Somewhere between home and work I went through my first 1000 miles on the Striple milestone :laughing:.
