Hi all, I'm in the process of putting a Daytona 600 on a 53 back on the road after it's been stood in a garage for at least 5 years. I've got it running on the paddock stand with side stand up but as soon I put it into gear it dies. I will try bypassing side stand switch but is there anything else I could check

Methinks 'tis a classic sidestand switch fault.
    Well, that's where I'd start.:)

If you've got a paddock stand, why not leave the sidestand down, then with the engine running put her in gear. Assuming the engine keeps running, now put up the side stand. Does the engine continue to run?

Won't fire up with side stand down.

Not even with the clutch pulled in?

Side stand down won't start fuel pump doesn't prime even with clutch in. Side stand up fuel pump primes starts and runs put in gear dies

Had a proper look and I think it's more a clutch problem than a switch as it stalls before I even release the lever perhaps clutch stuck as its not been used for 5 years

That wouldn't stop the fuel pump from priming tho???
If stood for 5 years, not a bad idea to strip, clean and oil the clutch plates, and that would eliminate that as a potential problem!
IIRC - Think I laid my old yam tw on it's side so oil doesn't leak all out, when I had to unstick the clutch plates on that.

The fuel pump is priming when stand is up so certain that's the not the problem now.

Problem sorted. Previous owner had plugged the side stand switch into the wrong connector.
