Interesting choice of bikes

Panigale V2 - 153 bhp
and a supersport 950 s - 111 bhp

Panigale certainly looks a lot better, nice to see it’s more about safety. They talk about anything of note?

I'd be disappointed to join the police and end up on the supersport.

Obviously just a Bikesafe promotional thing. Police in Scotland were running unmarked sports bikes, Fireblades I think, a few years back in popular biking areas to clamp down on dangerous riding. On the Bikesafe course I did years ago the coppers were on full dress patrol bikes, Beemers IIRC.

 

They're not your mates, they'd nick you in a heartbeat for even the most petty things, in the Police, points make prizes-for them.

 

Looking good on that bike, @Bikerman! I've never seen motorcycle cops on anything remotely like those Ducatis here in Arizona. So....what's "Bike Safe'?

 

Society we live in. On one hand society wants the Police to be this approachable entity and on the other not happy when the Police are seen using any form of force.
People forget other emergency services are there purely to help Police don’t always fall into that category.
The French tiered Police system have it right.

That's really interesting, Bikerman. It seems like a very good idea although I've no idea if the execution of it works. I haven't heard of anything like it in the U.S. We have beginner, intermediate, and advanced riding classes but I'm sure that's also the case in the UK. BikeSafe seems to address motorcycle safety in a unique fashion.

 

Did you have a word with them about the size of their chicken strips?

 

Last night I watched the Channel Five programme "Traffic Cops"; or "the numpty show" as my brother and I refer to it because of the stupidity of the road users that get nicked. Anyway it was focussing on motorcycles this week which make up 1% of road users and 20% of road fatalities in the UK.

Whilst the programme was edited for impact, it was a sad and tragic episode and illustrated exactly why the Police offer the Bike Safe course.

It's worth a watch on catch-up and thinking about how we ride. In the 1970's when I was a 24/7 365 rider, the government started introducing increasingly stringent motorcycle legislation deliberately intended to make it difficult and costly to get onto bikes; because of the accident statistics. Which means that what was my daily transport is now an expensive hobby, and more numptys are now behind the steering wheels of one ton killing machines.

It isn't easy to get into bikes these days and I for one want to enjoy my dream bike and want others to discover the joy of motorbikes, like it or not, how our generation ride will determine if there is another generation of bikers after us.
