With the warmer weather today, I abandoned my textiles and finally got to trial two of my Christmas gifts; my Sidi boots and Motogirl Zip Leggings https://motogirl.co.uk/collections/trousers/products/moto-zip-leggings. I know that there aren't many female riders as members here, but thought I'd give my first impressions, just in case anyone is interested.

The leggings are very thick as they are fully kevlar - lined, but still have a good bit of stretch. They are AA rated and have level two armour in the knees and hips. For me, the hip armour was quite large and obvious - looking, so I replaced it with thinner level two armour to appease my vanity . For my leg length the knee and hip armour sits in exactly the right places when on the bike.

The fit is true to size I would say which is unusual for women's bike kit (almost like these were made by a company run by women who consider women's needs, rather than sizing down men's kit and adding a hefty amount to the price ;)) and they are very high waisted, so there is no danger of a gap between the trousers and whatever jacket you choose to wear with them. There is also a connection zip that fits Motogirl jackets. I wore mine with my textile RST jacket which is pretty short I would say and there was plenty of overlap when on the bike.

They look good (to me, that's subjective!!) off the bike and you can't feel them when you're on the bike at all, nothing pinches, irritates or digs in. I would imagine that in the height of summer they'd be possibly too warm due to the thickness of the lining but for trips like I did today into town where I wanted to walk around town looking fairly normal and then just a gentle ride coming home the long way they were the bee's knees :).

The photo I have added is from when I got them a few months back.

Good post! Excellent to have reviews and comments on gear for women. I think my wife has a pair of these, or something similar by Motogirl. Kevlar and good stretch.

Agree that they look really 'normal' off the bike, and you don't look like the Michelin Man waddling around the pub or ferry. That is the disadvantage to the textile pants certainly.

She wants more hip amour so that may be different from what you have. Of course, given how often she actually gets on the bike, it about $800.00 in gear per ride.

Thanks; I think the jeggings have hip protection as optional, maybe it's those?

Could be. They came with armour, but it is quite thin, and she wants more padding there. She is slim in the hips, out of the box, so she could have more width without getting too broad abeam (nautical phrase).

Never seen or heard of them before, they look good. It's great when you can hang up the textiles and wear something more comfortable, i had my bike jeans on for the first time this year and what a difference!

I know!! One less layer under the jacket as well - so much nicer :).
