Thank you and I have to agree, they can make for interesting photographs but not what you particularly want to see coming towards you when out on the bike with less than waterproof gear on (that wrong choice again!) :D

I had a solo ride on the Striple today, 78 miles in total, going to the Postcard Cafe for the first time as I had been told that it is good. I can confirm that it is. I had intended to just have coffee (which was superb), but the owner gave me a sample of her Lebanese ginger and turmeric cake and it was so delicious that I bought another cafetière of coffee and a slice of the ginger cake for my lunch. The cafe itself is pretty small inside, but is in a lovely location and has seating outside the cafe itself and by the river which would be lovely on a warm summer's day.

There were three other bikers there and we had a quick chat - one was on a black Street Triple R Low, one a Thruxton R and one a BMW GS.

The ride itself was lovely, great scenery and beautiful sunshine. I am obviously still very much getting used to riding a big bike but it felt comfortable and relaxed and I just work on improving each time I get out.

Been away at the ski hill for 2 weeks so it was high time to get back on the bike. Didn't really have a solid plan but I took it out this morning early to avoid Houston traffic nonetheless.

On my way to the gas station I notice patches of wet road, which I don't desire to ride on (roads here are cement, not asphalt) but I figure I'll tough it out. At the gas station the pump tells me I have to pay at the cashier. That means I have to take off helmet, gloves, stand in line, bla bla bla. I say to myself "F&6k it, unreliable road conditions, BS situation at the fuel pump..I'll try later."

In the afternoon the sun got things up to 80F so the roads were reliable, though the traffic flared up too, but I made a spirited ride down to Galveston on my 675. I'm honestly starting to like this bike more than my '18 S1KR. Its a much more intimate experience with the bike and the transmission is just butter. The slipper clutch on the BMW is something of a bland experience in comparison.

Thanks for sharing some lovely photos and an equally lovely report, @Mrs Visor! It sounds like you had a beautiful day for a ride. I love those types of rides that it sounds like you had today--go where you choose, no rush, chat with folks you meet, discover yummy food at a new place. :):sun::heart: Yes, lovely!

Glad to read that you're continuing to feel more and more comfortable and relaxed on your Striple. I worked on improving each time I got out early on when I began riding, too. And I still do each time I head out the door! One of the things I so like about riding is that there's always something new to learn and something to improve on.

Thank you; it was lovely (cold though, 7c / 44F when I set out). Definitely always something to improve. I did go down a minor road and round a bend was a big deep patch of gravel across and along the road that had been washed down in the recent storms we have had. I didn't like it one bit but at least I remembered what not to do so pleased it was there in a way because it's another small bit of learning experience.

@Octoberon I have actually visited now, don't know if you want to update your map as I had only heard it was good when it went on?

Because of the low temperatures I had to leave the Bonnie in the garage again. We will have halfway Bonnie-suitable weather only from the end of the week.
Therefore, I went to the office with the TIGER again today. On the outskirts of Vienna I was then surprised by the beginning snowfall, which the forecasters had not announced yesterday evening.

Got the first 100 miles on it. Lovely morning out. One of the spring loaded bolts holding the screen decided it didn’t want to come so disappeared. I’ll be going to the dealers tomorrow to get a new one fitted. I’ll also ask a couple of questions around the TFT as I’m struggling a little with it.
What a great bike though. The engine, gearbox, everything just feels right. As for the shift assist, why have I never had this before? It’s fantastic.

Collected the wheels with new hoops on today but whilst the bike was up on stands I took the chance to remove most of the fairing to have a look underneath (my other thread re weeping oil from the engine casing was the result of this).

New (used) MRA screen fitted and I rerouted the optimate cable as it was too close to the exhaust pipe for my liking.

Looking forward to getting the wheels back on but waiting on a new clutch cable and front axle pinch bolts arriving (the heads were too close to being rounded off for my liking and only £3 each so a no-brainer).

Sadly the local council is still chucking salt on the roads here so I'm a few weeks away from getting out.

My morning arrival at the office today was severely hypothermic! Minus 4 degrees Celsius (24.8 F) at the start and after 60 km arrival at the office at 3 degrees Celsius (37.4F). o_O
Despite the temperatures it was beautiful, because I could permanently watch the awakening of the day with the beginning sunrise during the ride.
In the afternoon, the temperatures will rise to 10 degrees Celsius (50 F). Therefore, I have planned a short pit stop in my garage and after changing the license plate from the TIGER to the Bonnie, I will go for a short ride together with my wife and her Bonnie.:)

You are a brave man, Markus!:scream: Or should I say a brave "snowman". ;):joy: Glad you didn't get any frostbite--or did you? Do you use heated gear? I have a heated vest which is powered by a 7v battery that plugs in in a pocket. I love that thing.

@Sandi T: Thank you for your care Sandy! I am feeling well, no frostbites. :p I am using heat grips on my SIBERIAN TIGER.;) The rest of my gear is just the MODEKA motorcycle clothing with warm lining and a thermal shirt underneath.

Technically not today, but since I was away for a while, I’m posting now. Had a chilly ride last Sunday and the week before. First 220Km of the year in the bag. First ride was a bike meet, went with some friends. Didn’t take pictures of the second solo ride, too cold to let go of the heated grips ;)

Glad to see you back, @TheBeardedPunk! And back out on your bike, too. :) Looks like fun! There haven't been any bike meets or bike nights around here for a long time and I'm missing that scene.
