No, but then that hasn't exactly saved North Korea from being 20 years behind the rest of the world with all sort of economic woes. Russia is a slightly different scale bu the principle remains. Countries always have allies. That doesn't mean they can't be hurt by the actions of those that aren't.

European countries were weak in the 1930's in not standing up to hitler and look what happened. European nations should have been piling military forces into the Ukraine months ago assuming they would have been welcome.

I think there will be a significant escalation of cyber attacks on UK networks and servers
Government, banks, healthcare, utilities universities, finance markers and large companies are all likely targets of Russia with the aid of China and N/Korea

Before the bank servers are all wiped clear I have withdrawn a sum of cash
Hopefully the mortgage records will all be wiped in a big reset...silver lining and all that

Your thread title is bang on the money for me. I sort of get the Russian case for NATO being a stone's throw from them and how that might be hard to accept, should it happen. But Ukraine used to be called the bread basket of the Soviet Union, and I'm sure all those fertile cornfields have not gone unnoticed either. But we've slapped a couple of oligarchs' money around a bit, and maybe we'll stop Russkis sending their kids to our public schools in due course.....: unamused:

This is what's to be expected... Putin knows our administration is weak, without a clue.

Banks are already under almost constant attack. There’s a lot of security and redundancy built in to the systems. The further in your go, the more locked down it becomes. I wouldn’t worry about your money.

Joe just clamped down on domestic oil production again! Can only wait till November US elections! This will only result in increased conventional energy costs and finance Putins war machine

Well the dice have now been thrown, VP will have been planning this for a long time and has been bringing this slowly into action since 2014 Crimea invasion. China’s reaction will be important.

putin controls 6 thousand nuclear weapons He definitely poses a threat to NATO Combined with Chinese sea power this could get ugly real quick! My first thoughts are he will take control of media and destroy lawful government while installing his stooges! Now finally Joe can put down the ensure drop the solar and wind dreams and get my country firing on all cylinders (pumping oil making steel) etc and he better do it quick!

Takin Putin’s point of view, he’s seen Russia’s regional influence decrease whilst NATO has expanded. It’s no surprise that he would look to other non-western ideologies for support.
