    Will try that dave, now things get even worse, well not as bad, do you remember the revs holding when the clutch was pulled in ? I found out why.....the rubber has split along the edge of the clip.. They are not a year old!!!! So now waiting for parts before i can put the carbs back on and test the old girl, i said shes high maintenance:oops::oops: image.jpeg

    forgot to mention the join on the drive chain, an o ring has snaped!! Bike shop phoned me its in, and they are giving me the tool to press it. Does that count as three things .? They say it comes in threes :confused:

    I think I would be inclined to drop the oil and filter and then remove the sump to see what is/isn't in there. Then, with the plugs out (as previously suggested) spend some time turning the engine over, via the back wheel, perhaps backwards as well as forwards, to see if you dislodge anything that shouldn't be in there.
    Just a thought really.

    Thanks Steve. I have drained the oil but was at the Red bull soap box races yesterday so not looked at it since. Thinking as advised to drop the sump and turn her over and see what falls out.

    Had a look at the sump this morning and not good.........one of the bolts holding it is directly under the mono shock with no way of getting to it without dropping the shock or engine.... Nothing is easy Ah.

    Can you improve access by either compressing or lengthening the spring? IE either get someone to sit on the back half of the bike seat to compress the spring; or with a trolley jack under the engine, jack up the engine so back wheel is well off the ground, then undo the top spring retaining bolt so that the rear wheel can gently drop to the floor.

    This might give you sufficient access to get at the last sump bolt?

    If I recall, as I'm away from the bike at the moment. It's the part the shock is mounted to that doesn't move . The bottom spindle . I was going to phone Triumph and see if the sump can come off without dropping the shock or Engine ,
    I will look at it when im home tomorrow , im off to Cork to see a band called Stiff little fingers, some may remember them back in the 80s . When i come back i will be all out to sort this out .
