I'll have to do a bit of research and see if there are any updated Triumph bells, @sprintdave. Let me know if you happen across one please.

I agree about the zip ties, @Iron, and I do have another tidier and more secure method up my sleeve. But I wanted to get it on the bike sooner than later and the other (and better) method will take me a bit to figure out. I'll try to remember to post a photo of the ride bell hanger I have and get your professional opinion as to a good place to mount it on "El Fatso" (and I won't tell him you called him that ).

Took the Yamaha out again on Thursday as the weather looked promising, a sunny day with temperatures around 6c (42f). Thought I would try Seaways Cafe, about 100 mile round trip for me, most of it through the North York Moors National Park via Helmsley and Malton.

    yam.jpg

This is part of the way through Bilsdale - you can see why I took the Yam as it's already filthy (the Tiger is still clean!) The roads weren't too bad where the sun had got to them

    road.jpg

Not too sure about the bits in the shade though

    icy.jpg

This 19 mile stretch of road between Stokesley and Helmsley is part of the "The North Yorkshire TT route" normally run from Hemsley to Stokesley and across and back down to Helmsley via Kirbymoorside, as parts are apparently very similar to the mountain section of the TT course. I will probably avoid this road on weekends in the summer :D. There are signs which claim 85 casualties in the last five years (more than half are bikers)

Quick stop in the square at Helmsley - yes I'm the only bike again - this area will be packed with bikes when the weather improves!

On my way out of the town.

Finally arrived at Seaways to find a few more hardy soles (including four police motorcycles and three traffic cars parked round the corner).

Stopped at a village called Slingsby on the way back to look at this old ruin known as Slingsby Castle

The castle is actually a Jacobean mansion built for Sir Charles Cavendish around 1640. Apparently it was never completed as old Charlie had to bugger off to the continent after choosing the wrong side in the Civil War. :joy::joy:

Great summary @steve lovatt . My lasting memory of Helmsley square was dropping my thunderbird LT lol. Well actually I laid it down when trying to park it. Luckily no damage as the engine bars and panniers took the strain

Glad to see you back out on the roads again, Steve, and doubly glad that you're posting photos of your rides and the sights along the way again! Looks like a good day out. :sun::) Funny about all the law enforcement presence at Seaways. Were they expecting you??

Today I met up with a girlfriend that I haven't seen in over two years. In fact, we figured out that the last time we saw one another was in December of 2019 when I organized a women's motorcycle ride with a group of five of us. We didn't nearly finish catching up with all that has happened in our lives over the last two years but we sure had a good time getting started and it was great to ride together again! :)

My friend lives quite far to the southwest of Tucson so it was a haul for her just to meet up at the QT we started from. She was interested in doing a long ride, though, so we agreed to head north and have lunch at the Oracle Patio Cafe where I go regularly but she'd not been for well over two years. The weather was lovely--70-ishºF and sunny with light winds. And lunch was terrific. So terrific in fact that we'd eaten everything before I even thought about taking a photo or two. I did ask one of the Cafe staff if she'd take a photo or two of us before we headed back down to Tucson.

There were bikes everywhere today! Lots of riders at the cafe and scores of them out on the road. :):sun: El Gordo is almost at 1,000 miles and ready for his 1K service. Tomorrow it's Speedy's turn for a rideout. :grinning:

Sounds like either a training session or a pre planned operation (hopefully against criminals, drugs or farm thefts etc, but more likely speeding bikes)

It was definitely a training session of some sort. I overheard them talking in the cafe about "following the same route as Tuesday" .

As it happened, they left at the same time as I was ready to go and in the same direction, so I cheekily followed them. I reckon they were practicing escort duty - the four bikes took the lead with lights flashing with the three cars behind, (s90 Volvo estates) . The tail car also kept his blues on.

At any junction where cars were waiting, the lead bike would block the exit until they were all through and then overtake to return to the front. Where there were cars in front, the lead bike would ride further ahead and onto the opposite side if the road to block traffic coming from the opposite direction so the rest could overtake without waiting. Drivers coming from the opposite direction were virtually pulling over anyway faced with so many blue lights.

I followed them all the way back to Malton where I lost them in traffic as they forced their way through the town. What a hoot! No risk of any clown pulling out of a side junction and when they overtook, I just followed. Some cars even waved me past! :joy:. I had to hang back a bit as they were exceeding the speed limit but when they were out of sight due to bends or dips I hooned it to keep up. I'm sure they were aware of what I was doing but they were probably too busy to worry about it.

I can thoroughly recommend a seven vehicle police escort though. :D:D

I can’t tell you how much fun that is, I didn’t reach the level required to do VIP escort duty but I did plenty of football coach escorts, which is essentially the same, just a bit slower.

Took my first bike ride of 2022 today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Took the Tracer for it's first MOT which it passed no problem and took the long route home. Got in just as it was going dark which was a good job as I was getting desperate for a pee.:D

Out again today as it's the first and probably last sunny and dry day this week - another storm arriving tomorrow apparently. Another run over the moors to the coast, this time Sandsend just north of Whitby.

Not by bike anyway as it's a sheer drop of about two storeys!

    ec.jpg

The Worlds End Cafe and a decent sausage sandwich for breakfast

Only one road runs through Sandsend, heading north it climbs out of the village past the remains of the old railway bridge. The old station building is still there but the bridge is long gone.

Taking the powered cradle for my Garmin off the Super Ten in readiness for it fitting to my new Rally Pro in the next month or so. Glad I wasn’t collecting it today with the amount of snow we’ve had.
