I have not been using my 2018 Triumph Street Triple much this winter. I went to start it recently and there was not enough power in the battery so I trickle charged it over 24 hrs. Since then there has been NO power to anything(Could I have reversed the charging cables??) The battery is reading 12.4 V but when the ignition is switched on there are no sounds, no clicking, etc. at all. The main 30A fuse is fine as are the other 9 - except the 10A 'Auxiliary Lights & Instruments' fuse - this was blown. When I replace this fuse - even with the ignition off, the fuse blows again! But this should not prevent the bike starting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
The battery after charging should be more like 12.8v. If you cannot recover the battery above 12.4v then a new battery is required. The cause of the blown fuse needs to be fixed before you go any further. Without power to the instrument panel it will not start.
Ok Guys, Update: Took the 'No Electric Power 2017 Street Triple' to the main dealer. After "exhaustive investigation" they tell me that it 'May be' the Dashboard - but it is a process of elimination - they also mentioned 'maybe' the wiring loom'!!!! I had to pay the €1,100 for the clocks before they would order them. I'll keep ye posted. Anyone else have a Triumph experience like this??
Brave man, hopefully that solves your issues. My old bike kept blowing indicator fuses and it wound up that a wire had been nipped and it was earthing through the frame, might be worth checking all the wiring if your fuse keeps blowing everytime you turn the bike on
I would try to eliminate the instrument panel by unplugging it from the loom before turning on the ignition briefly to see if the fuse still blows. If it does then there is a short in the wiring somewhere. If the fuse only blows when the instrument panel is connected then it would seem that the instrument panel is the culprit. I do not know what checks your dealer has already done ?
Hello, I have the exact same issue on mine after i crossed the jumper cables. The ignition lights on, DRL and fuel pump on but instrument is dead, other lights, indicators and controls do not respond. What was wrong with yours?
