Had a situation a few years back where I had bid on a cbx. It should have been ready to mot, but when I got there the exhaust was hanging off, the were no bolts in the brake calipers and so on. I didnt buy it but it was a big hasle coming over from denmark, to see a bike that was obviously not ready for an mot. I spent a lot of time looking at the pictures to find such faults, still got caught out...
I know Bry doesnt have to travel so far, but if its a binding agreement, its hard to get out of. I would think. Especially as the one Bry har `bought` looks to be very good nick....
Then again, thats the risk in interweb buying, I suppose..
Look forward to hearing what the bike is like in the `flesh` as it were...

I have bought several bikes & cars on ebay over the years & have always asked the seller to email me as many pictures as possible including pictures of all dents, scratches, damage & rust prior to making an offer. I also explain to them that if its not as described i will refuse to see the deal through. If they agree then chances are its all truthful & genuine, if they dont agree then chances are they have something to hide & its time to walk away.
You can also get the vehicle reg & run a HPI check to make sure the vehicle has no outstanding finance, previous insurance write-offs etc.

A friend of mine just bought a trial bike for competitions on E Bay got a good deal but then the vendor refused to sell it as he says its worth more ,so his battle with the vendor just started ,EBay don't want to know as its outside the protection and say that they should talk and resolve it ,my mates offered a bit more for it and he still won't deal ,E Bay is good but there are some arseholes selling on it.

I have had it a few times with buying cars, went to see a golf VR6 in Birmingham and when I got close I called the guy and he said he had just sold it that second! (hmmm) anyway his bother had one identical, same colour same year the lot that he was selling, I turned up and they were selling cars from a house that was boarded up! V dodgy thought I was going to get robbed that day!

Anyway Bry after all of these stories I'm sure your looking forward to your trip to London!!

I'm not an ebay demon like the others and have only bought a couple of bits before. I sent the bloke a message through ebay and aked if the original bits were in the price and would he accept £6,400. He sent one back saying 'when would I like to pick it up and would I be prepared to send a £50 deposit through paypal'. Very reasonable I thought. So even if things went tits-up I'm only into it for the deposit.

Here's a thing. I went onto 'Go compare' to sort out the insurance for the new bike. Best quote I had, (all fully comp.) was £140 from Bennetts. tonight I decided to go with the better policy with Bennetts for £200. Going through the bumf they offered me full EU coverage with the RAC (for the year) for an extra £50. I went onto the RAC website, compared EU coverage policies and they were exactly the same except that the RAC wanted over £100 for the year so I added it to the policy. I bought the policy (bearing in mind that if I don't take the bike I can cancel the policy) and when it came through it's for 13 months. Firkin' bargain, I thought!

I'm actually in a little place called Orsett, at a Pub called The Fox. Nice beer but they don't half talk 'fanny', apparently. :)
