A timeless classic (as they say on the radio) in the style of Ray LaMontagne for today's cover. Not 'alf.

Aren't they on in Manchester later this year ?
Goodness knows how old they are now.
Saw them on their "Battle Rages On" tour ages ago, they were still good.

Another cover for another grey day. (Well it is here, anyway.). But who did the original?

I had the chace to see them in Paris in 91 or 92, it was the last time they played with the original line up, Ritchie Blackmore and John Lord. Ritchie Blackmore arrived with 1,5 h late (plane delayed from UK juste before the show), but it was worst the pain to wait for. Top 2 best concert of my life, maybe ex aequo with Guns n roses, with Faith no More and Soundgarden opening. also around the same period.

Saw Deep purple later on, with Steve Morse on guitar and Don Airy. Incredibly good considering the years. The singer adapted the melody to the voice aging, and that was way better than trying to perform as 40 years ago.

One of the best intro's ever, possibly:

Twice as long as most pop songs :p good for live to give the vocalist some rest time. I did note the actual vocal component ended up being shorter :D

Never forget the organ on the rocking pedestal. Up there with rage against the machine, AC/DC and U2/BB King as most memorable concerts.

Biff, great track. Somehow reminded me of this

Redo of Jeff Beck's track from his 1975 album at Ronnie Scott's with the Aussie Tal Wilkenfeld on bass and the great Vinnie Colaiuta on drums. This one written by Stevie Wonder would you believe?

I really can't do with the likes of Guns an Whatsits, but I'll give them this one:

Has the drummer only got the top half of his socks on? or is that a 'Ze Germans' thing?

    Happy birthday…

Johnny ’Guitar’ Watson, who would’ve been 87 today if he hadn’t died in 1996.
