That was funny on SO many levels (I did have to temporarily un-ignore somebody to appreciate the relevance) :D

I think the safer you make things, the stupider people become around them.
The more safety stickers you put on things, the more people ignore them. A lot of it has already gone too far IMO.

I remember many years ago brother-in-law telling me he had to wear a hard hat in ALL areas of his site (site manager for a large residential house builder). Even when entering a completed and occupied property where the owner required some remedial work, absolutely ridiculous.:joy:
On the other hand I as a young engineering apprentice even longer ago, likewise had no ear defenders in a VERY noisy machine shop, also I was tasked with machining a certain grade of Tufnol and told to "avoid the dust", no mask. Later found out it was asbestos based, the experienced toolmakers looking after themselves - sod the apprentice.:mad:

HSE as well as OSHA can get pretty stupid. I was on a site once in a very high threat locale. We were taking effective indirect every day and hostile personnel were venturing in pretty close on occasion. My crew wore modular plate carriers at all times and ballistic helmets whenever they traversed the sight. The site safety guy, some old bumpkin from W.Virginia, insisted that we started wearing blue construction hardhats, blue being the color to ID us from a distance. Mind you our issue helmets were Level 3+ ballistic rated protection. They could pretty easily take an AK round from 100 yds, to say nothing of protecting the wearer from bumping his head or having a wrench dropped on him from 2 or 3 stories up. I even offered to paint our helmets blue to adhere to the site color code SOP. He wasn't having it. It was flimsy blue plastic or nothing.

I finally got him to back off when I emailed him stating I needed his demand as a formal written order including all the factors supporting his decision. I also required he must include that he would therefore be taking all responsibility should one of my guys get hit in the head. That shut him up.

Safety personnel are commonly just petty little dictators trying ad nauseam to justify their existence at any cost, to include dismissing common sense.

45yrs ago now, don't try to have a conversation with me in a pub with much background noise but otherwise I think I got away with it.
Edit: the wife seems to think my hearing loss is more selective

SOOOO funny! Thanks for sharing, @Col_C. I laughed so hard milk (well, not milk, something a little stronger) came out my nose. I've gotta watch more of this guys stuff. Glad you temporarily un-ignored somebody...well worth it in my opinion. :):joy::heart:

You have to thank @DanielB for posting the Jim Jefferies videos (as I was doing), an excellent riposte to the "discussion".
I treat the forum like a trip to the pub, sometimes you come across a character that you find so annoying it's just best to move tables, the "ignore" button is my virtual move tables. :)

I'm not sure there's much @Havit can do other than keep removing the accounts to save every one of us having to ignore them each time. If there's a way to block them from being able to post that's going to be down to @Rob but he hasn't logged on for nearly a month.

My RAC subscription is due on the 5th of February and the amount of emails, letters plus phone calls on my home and mobile phone twice a day for the last week is a bit over the top, they want £328 to cover 2 vehicles for two years, an increase of £59 from last time, I've been a member for twenty two years and used them once when the rear mudguard bracket on my Rocket snapped, It took four hours for them to turn up whilst I sat there in the pouring rain, going to try Green Flag this year, and to cap it all, my home and mobile is ringing at the same time while I'm typing this and guess who it is?
