I've no doubt it's going to be spectacular. Very much looking forward to that end of the trip!

Thanks, @Bikerman. I appreciate the support and interest. I'd like to give something back to the forum and hopefully keep people entertained. More fun that way. :) It's something I've had in mind for a few years but Covid put the brakes on it, as with so many things. Now it's time to revice the planning and get back on track. I'll share routes and plans as we go and I'm always open to ideas and advice.

I've only been to Norway by car, but Trollstigen was certainly one of the highlights.

I'll keep that one in mind. Getting the map out later but it's old-fashioned sliced tree. I've been looking at how to get something more internet-friendly and sharable.

It's near Geiranger, where you'll want to go anyway.

Update: I've been back through the thread today and pulled out all the useful sites and other information in to Evernote, which I'm using to collate and organise everything. I've also got a map started and begun adding information about places. No route yet but I'll put a link in here sometime in the next few days as a work-in-progress.

Thank you so much to everyone who's jumped in already given me lots of useful stuff. I really appreciate it.

How about doing it as a charity thing?
I suppose you are tied in but worth a thought?
I'd certainly sponsor you as (I suspect) others would?

Could do. I've done it before when a friend and I organised a trip through all the counties of England, Scotland and Wales in 4 days, not using motorways or going anywhere requirng a ferry. That's where the photo comes from of my old RF900 that I posted in a different thread. I'll give it some thought.

I remember driving down into Geiranger and seeing those massive cruise liners... They kind of spoiled the views!

Looks pretty spectacular, though you will not be seeing me on that platform! I am terrible with heights. It's irrational and stupid, and actually quite annoying, but part of my brain just says 'no'. I've added Flydalsjuvet and Lofoten Islands to the map! Keep 'em coming.

The ferry sounds like a nice idea. There will be a time/cost factor overall for the trip but right now it's just about gathering all sorts of ideas. We can work out what's feasible to put on the route later. My mate and I did agree early on that you have to see the sights on the way. It's not just about racing south. Especially as he's got a Himalayan. :joy:

Lofoten is Lofoten, of course, and it is a stunning area. The problem though, is that because of that, everybody is heading for Lofoten. If you want the same scenery, nature etc. but want to stay away from the queues, I'd recommend that you consider the neighbouring region Vesterålen. In 2020 they had a quarter of the number of tourists compared to Lofoten. If you approach from the north, you could in fact do Vesterålen first and then take the ferry to Lofoten.

I could see that as being a viable detour. Both now marked on the map.

Update: More food for thought today. Thanks guys! I haven't finished looking at the sites that've been posted yet so I'll no doubt dig out some more info from them. The link below is to the map I'm created to record all the places, and eventually routes, we may take in. I have a very tentative route as far as Hamburg but I'll leave it off the map for now as it's highly likely to be pulled this way and that, and I need to catch up with my biking mate to get his input as well.

    https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1IlxEpq7j4_79l1OmrYaeI0gSjXe9-p1y&usp=sharing

Orange markers are possible destinations. I'll use another colour for confirmed waypoints when there are some.

A couple of people have mentioned where they are. If the route passes reasonably close then we'll hopefully be able to share a beer or two on the way. I'll put a marked on the map if you give me a rough location (city/town will do) using the Triumph logo. You'll see one on there already. If you PM the info to me I won't put your name on the marker unless you say it's okay. If it's provided in open forum then I will, unless you ask me not to. :)

It would be good to pin a link to the map at the top of the thread but I don't know if I can do that. Is it something you can do if I can't, @Havit?

Thanks, Vulpes. I can see two possible ways to go from Hamburg, one could well be past your neck of the woods.

Just been following this thread as it sounds a good alternative to the alps. I might try it myself at some point as I’ve only don Norway on a cruise.
