Any Chance Of A Tuneecu Section?

I would second this...

As an eager learner, but with much to learn, I would really value a Tune ECU section that gives the very basics, onwards...

What to plug and where.
What app or software to use (laptop, android)?
What you can do.
How you do it.
How you undo it!?
Etc...

of course, if this already exists please let me know!!

 

Ok , what to plug where , plug USB dongle or Bluetooth adaptor into the bike's umbilical port to access the ECU for tuning. Which adaptor relies on the bike year/model ! Early bikes 1990's up to circa 2009/10 you use laptops/desktop via USB dongle , 2009 to current date you use a Bluetooth adaptor and an Android phone or tablet , Xp or later for USB , not sure on Android requirements but would think later versions and higher spec phone or tablet.

It's almost as easy as pie , plug in switch ignition on don't start up if doing mapping changes , star if doing monitoring or some adjustments ie throttle position sensor adjust possibly other adjustments for later models.
I have used on 1999/2000 sprint ST and 2008/9 America.

I promise,.I'm not being offensive, I mean it in the psychology sense ...

I reckon you know exactly nhow to use Tune Ecu...and so those steps are perfect... I hope one day they'll be perfect for me as well; but in the meantime - and as a small chunker - I'd be happy for as much information as possible...

Imagine I was a 6yr old and you needed to tell me how to adjust my throttle position sensor on my 2002 Speed Triple...

I do not have it at all.

I would find it most useful to have it on my android phone. I might be able to scrape together an old laptop, or iPad.

My fear is, is when I went on the tuneecu website, I can download an 'apk' file to my phone etc...however...I do not know what that is. And also there is all the red writing about don't use this app as you can destroy your bike!

Upon reflection, especially as I don't know what I'd want to do, or why...even if I knew how to...perhaps it is better to steer clear, or at least leave it to those that know, when or if needed?

I think it is all that red writing that put me off last time! Perhaps it is better to stick to nuts and bolts...?

 

The red writing is there to cover him legally !! Just monitoring the engine or installing an updated map is pretty safe ! I Dyno tuned my 2008 America. The tuner didn't know "tuneecu" so I bought a "Power Commander" suitable for my bike. He did the fuelling optimisation and changes through that. I downloaded the mapping from the power commander , using tuneecu , then overlaid the map from power commander tune on top of the existing Triumph tune within the ECU , this cut out the need for the power commander and negated any possible tendency for "Lag" as now only one unit controlled fuelling.
I've done ~40,000 km working on that tune

 

I hear you, and thank you @capt but I have always felt that fiddling alone is never as good as playing with someone...so I may give it more thought for now.

It's very handy for resetting the spanner and also helped out with an error code that popped up intermittently. Pointed me in the direction of the evap system (thats what it was). You can clear any codes too instead of waiting/doing the 3 times route.
I purchased tuneecu for android and a lonelec obd2 Bluetooth dongle.
Please don't get a really cheap dongle as they don't work well it seems. Others are available but I can vouch for the lonelec one.
If you want to write a map TO the bike, you have to get the more expensive (£70) dongle I think.
I have a £17 one and it works perfectly.
I know it'll do alot more but i've not needed it for anything more so i've not fiddled with adaption etc as I don't need to yet.
Also, I always have it (bike) on the tender when in use as the pump has to be primed and the bike only 1 press away from starting for it (speed rs) to connect.
