Neil Peart was the stupendously talented drummer of Rush… suffered tremendous loss and sought solace covering more miles on a bike than most can contemplate.
I saw this bourbon at Sam’s Club while running errands earlier today. I’ve never had it before but did a quick search online for a couple of reviews and it sounded good so I picked up a bottle. I’m giving it a try this evening in the form of an Old Fashioned. Delicious!
This one is simply about an adventure bicycle “holiday”, (doesn’t sound much of a holiday at times) Neil went on. He used to cycle between concerts while his band mates travelled by tour bus or limo. Later he did it by motorcycle thinking nothing of riding 400+ miles in a day then playing drums for three hours Yes, they are stainless steel, cools the drink without diluting it. The glass is one of a pair bought by my wife as a gift on my retirement from the police. That one has my collar number (service number) on, 584, and the dates when I served. The other has a little phrase “Each day enjoying retirement from work, not life”
I invited my brother over to pickup some smoked snapper (he is fond of the heads) and he dropped off a Spanish drop. Mrs Dartplayer likes a cab sav, and thoroughly enjoyed it
Thanks for the response to my questions, @Yorkshireman! Neil sounds like he was truly amazing. I may give the stainless steel cubes a try. I have similar ones that are stone but they don't seem to work all that well. The retirement gift glasses are great. What a thoughtful and unique gift. I love the phrase about retirement. I can't imagine retiring from life....though I think some do just that.
A nice bottle or two of Golden Sheep, not quite as bitter as my favourite bottled ale Black Sheep. Tonight it accompanies my lamb hotpot and pretzel. Just whats needed on a cold, wet, windy winters night.
Just picked my lad up from serving on… so I’m staying late. So a nice easy supping cheapo-plonko. Jam Shed Malbec ta very much…
I saw this and couldn’t resist… one for you @TheBeardedPunk !!! https://swinkelsfamilybrewers.com/en/our-range/alcoholic-beers/steenbrugge.html I’ve a couple of bottles of Leffe Ruby to follow on…
I've been trying to by a nice brandy the last week or so. There's none to be had. I've tried my local Asda and Morrisons, they both just had a couple of bottles of Three Barrels. So yesterday I went to a large Tesco and the shelf that had all the decent stuff was completely bare. They just had a bit of firewater in at £13/14 a bottle. It aint looking good.
What tequilas do you like, @Fork Lock?? As you might image, there are a huge number of tequilas available in Tucson and I'm always interested in what folks like.
I'm not much of a connoisseur when it comes to spirits, be it liquor, beer or wine. Whatever is handy and produces the desired effect. Cuervo Especial suits me just fine, although I have been known to consume some low-grade cactus squeezins'.
Another "supply chain" problem, @andypandy? Or is it a mad dash for the brandy reminiscent of the hoarding of toilet paper in 2020?
This evening I had a dissolvable multivitamin tablet with a tablespoon of cider vinegar... I am now drinking whiskey.
Both ASDA and Morrisons (other Supermarkets are available!) here in Sheffield seem pretty well stocked with beer and spirits so far, awaiting the Christmas rush no doubt! I got a couple of bottles of Cognac for my birthday so that should keep my cockles warm for bit.
