I think there are a couple of different brands of those "hot hands" type of things, @Mrs Visor. But I haven't used them for awhile either. I used to use them a lot while cycling but haven't tried them on a motorcycle. I do like silk inner liner gloves and I also use them regularly. They seem perfect for motorcycling as they are warm but thin and my leather gloves slip on easily over them.

if you have a british machine from the 60s or 70s, youre aware of the bad idle that results when the pilot jet in the amal concentrric carburetters get plugged with mung. its a hole in a bush underneath the idle air adjusting screw, and the bush cant be removed. when it gets blocked, no fuel goes into the little mixing chamber under the venturi, and the carb wont idle.

the solution is to clean it out. but if you just poke a wire or a guitar string through, you just push the crap into the mixing chamber, where it then goes downstream and plugs up the idle feed and idle bypass ports in the floor of the venturi.

the answer is clean it out with a no. 78 drill bit. i just bought a pack of 20 for US$5.99

    litle buggers they are

you take em and glue them into a little tube or something because they re too small to hold. like a spray tube from an aerosol can.

the no. 78 bit is 0.016 inches in diameter, which is the correct size of the original orifice that you're cleaning. because its a drill bit, you spin it and the mung gets removed instead of getting pushed in.

i had a bunch of these from a while back, but then i lost them. i will undoubtedly lose these too, but theyre cheap, titanium and all.

A new helmet, my first turned out to be slightly too large; having not had one before I did all the checks for fitting, went to a shop in person etc but still got it wrong. So now I am the owner of a size XS to fit on my pinhead  and will be looking to sell the size S.

I too, just bought a new helmet, on-line...and sent it back, straightaway. I haven't bought a helmet in twenty years, so I thought I'd buy a new one to replace the old pot I've been wearing since I got a new bike (Nov. 2020). It wasn't overly expensive - an HJC half-helmet in "anthracite" color. Beautiful helmet. Fit was fine but, it was big as a beach ball! It looked ridiculous. It was absolutely planetary!
I guess they've changed the way they manufacture helmets? Thicker shells, more padding? Anyway, back it went. I'll keep the old brain bucket, thanks.

It’s not the thickness of the shell. It depends on the size of your head and the amount of Shell-sizes they use for the type of helmet you bought. If they just do two shell sizes for example, they add padding on the inside to make it fit, but this results in larger looking helmet if your head is on the smaller end of the sizing table.

A 20 year old helmet isn’t doing much for protecting your head anymore. The energy absorption capabilities of the eps will have worn out, my advise would be to go out and get a new helmet.

Unless you are sticking with a brand that you have had for years and that know exactly what size helmet you need, I would advise against buying a helmet online. Everybody’s head is a different shape and every helmet manufacturer has a slightly different shell shape. A particularly round head won’t fit properly in a Shoei for instance, while a rather oval head would never really fit a Shuberth.

Sorry for the long reply, not my intention to nag.

No, my head is big. It has its own weather system.

It's OK to nag... I'm used to it. I'm married.

    Thanks!

Managed to pick up £1100's worth of Triumph jackets for £220... both look good, fit well and came fully-armoured so I'm absolutely delighted with them.

That makes 8 jackets now, so probably time to stop

X pipe for my Street Cup. Now just don't ask when I will get to put the damn thing on.....

Well I put the "damn" thing on and I hope my St Cup likes it because the only difference is a slight change in sound. I have stock pipes which will remain, I don't like a lot of noise...

New helmet, a Shoei Hornet for when riding the Explorer.
Got a good deal in Black Friday offers from Sportsbikeshop, delivered within a couple of days but the vent on the front didn’t move. Sent it back and replacement was here within a week of the original order. Great service from Sportsbikeshop.
Next thing is to get it booked in with local custom helmet painter.

Here’s previous work he did for me, new helmet will be same theme but different layout.

I spent a Grand with Sports Bike Shop, taking advantage of the recent Black Friday deals. I used to have an Arai helmet back in the 90s and decided to treat myself and this beauty was turned up yesterday.
