New Silencer's, baffles removable?

Yes,undo the nut and bolt then using pliers or similar, remove the baffle.

Have you tried them on the bike with the baffles in, yet?

I got my aftermarket cans from a similar supplier and they sounded great on my T100 even with the baffles left in.

 

And if you find them too loud (even with the baffles in) you can buy a couple of these baffles which I'm assuming will be more efficient than the perferated baffles which usually come with these types of exhausts (they can also be wrapped in exhaust wadding)…..

Not unless you remove the Air injection system, or at least block it. get a kit of ebay for less than £20.

I quite like the pops and bangs, so leaving mine in place

Later America's don't need a remap for the TOR exhausts, only seems to be earlier one's had to get it installed. My 13 plate had the right map for both Std and TOR exhausts !!!! No update required, £25 saved

 

Actually Tony, the poppin' and bangin' on over-run is usually caused by the AI (Air Injection) system. To eliminate the noises permanently requires the removal of some plumbing and a bit of electrickery, but to stop the noise on a temporary basis (as a test) all you need to do is block a tube coming out of the airbox.

If you decide to try this, let me know and I'll give you 'step by step' instructions.

 

As thebiglad says, no remap won't stop the popping and banging. The air injection system is there to help triumph pass the emissions regulations and injects air into the engine on a closed throttle to help burn unburnt fuel, that's whats popping and banging, a remap won't stop this. Only way is removing AI system and fitting blanking caps.

I've removed the air injection system from my 2005 Speedmaster. It's an easy job to do, just follow the steps in the video mentioned above.

 

Hi I have a 2015 America and i see lots of differing opinions on whether a remap is required for aftermarket exhausts, how did you find out it was not required on later models if you don't mind me asking?

 

Took it into the local Triumph Dealer, he plugs it in and says, no remap required, they already have it set for the TOR's. Same thing happened to a pal of mine, 2 weeks later with his LT America. That was for the Genuine Triumph Off Road (TOR) pipes.

I was told by my local Triumph dealer that as long as you have the sensors still intact, the ECU will 'learn' to remap itself to suit the pipes. I had short TOR's fitted from new, and at the break in service they did force a slight remap as the fueling was slightly off (but may over time have righted itself). It was just more convenient to have a few hundred miles worth of 'learning' done in five minutes by a mechanic with the maps already set up on his laptop.
