It's great that you have two activities that support your mental health, @Dartplayer--fishing and motorcycles. We sort of have that in common though my fishing is done through diving and I just look and don't catch. I find diving and riding to be two of the most therapeutic things in my life. It sounds like the same is true of you. I'm glad you're able to get back to your fishing again! :)

Today I was to meet up with my boss who also is a friend and riding buddy. We'd been trying to get a ride together on our calendar for weeks and weeks. The plan was to meet up towards the north end of Tucson and ride to Mi Pueblito for lunch in the small town of Mammoth (hmmm, I just realized what an ironic town name that is). She hasn't been able to ride much as she's incredibly busy with both work and family. At any rate, we were both super excited to finally get on the bikes together.

But alas, it was not to be. I had my bike all prepped and waiting in the driveway and was just about to put on my riding gear when I saw a text from her saying to check my voice mail. She'd called to say that early on her way to meet me her bike started to clatter and clank rather ferociously and she'd turned back for home and wouldn't be joining me. We both expressed our disappointment but I told her I was just glad she'd made it back home safely and we'd get our lunch ride in another day.

Since I was all dressed up with no place to go, I called another riding buddy and friend, Russ, who is quite spontaneous and always up for a ride. Mr. Sandi would have been the obvious choice but he had expressed the desire to lay low today and stay home with Ellie the Boxer and his guitars.

Russ and I did the same exact ride that my boss and I had planned and it was absolutely delightful. The sky was streaked with what my dad always called "Mares Tale Clouds" and the temperatures were pretty much perfect at mid-70'sF. We met at one of our usual QT's to gas up then hit the road up to Mammoth which is approximately 45 miles northeast of Tucson.
    IMG_4505.jpeg

I know many of you pay far more than this for gas, but I think this is the most I've ever paid for gas in Tucson.

    IMG_4503.jpeg

I led on the way up and Russ led on the way home. When we pulled in to the Mi Pueblito, the motorcycle parking area was nearly completely full. All the bikes were Harleys with the exception of one Africa Twin. Russ and I were both on Harleys, too--he on his Heritage Classic and me on my Street Glide.
    IMG_4507.jpeg

The owners of the bikes parked in front of the patio were clearly all in one big group and were having a bit of a party when we arrived. Russ and I snagged the last available patio table and the group took off with a roar about 15-20 minutes later. And then there was one. :joy: Russ's Heritage was parked on the other side of the building near the bakery and tortilla factory.

    IMG_4516.jpeg

    Remnants from the group....
    IMG_4518.jpeg

I'd had a very light breakfast in anticipation of a hearty Mexican lunch and Mi Pueblito didn't disappoint. They serve breakfast all day long and even though it was about 1:00pm when we ordered, I decided that eggs sounded good. So I went with the green corn tamales, two eggs over medium, and refried beans and requested a side of sliced avocado. :yum And their chips and salsa are among the best in the area--and that's saying a lot in Tucson!
    IMG_4523.jpeg

When I saw Russ back at the QT he was chugging a bottle of chocolate milk and downing a cinnamon bun. I asked him if that was his pre-Mexican lunch appetizer. ;):joy: He was a little less hungry than I was so he opted for the Sonoran hot dog.
    IMG_4521.jpeg

I love Sonoran hot dogs! Which restaurant serves up the best Sonoran hot dogs is a hot topic in Tucson and nearly everyone has their favorite. I've described them before on the forum but not for some time. Here's what Wikipedia says on the topic.

Back home in the driveway after a lovely 95 mile spin on a Saturday afternoon. Life's simple pleasures--lovely weather, a motorcycle ride, good friends. And Mexican food! :)

Perfect! I like the spontaneous stuff but only if the sun is out tbh!
Obviously in Arizona, it’s a bit more predictable!
Thanks for sharing your day but it’s only a close second to @Fork Lock I’m afraid as he raked up the leaves yesterday. :);)

It felt really nippy today, so i thought i would try out my Muffs on the GS, it wasn't as cold as i thought it was, although first time it's been in single figures since February (7-8c) i just put my summer gloves on and with the muffs it felt great. i set up my camera to take a video so i could get a still picture but unfortunately it went all out of focus, it was kind of in focus from behind
    gs muffs 1.jpg

i tried again further up the road but it still went out of focus when the bike got near.. maybe it was trying to tell me something o_O

Stopped off at ballinluig for a breakfast
    20211121_135415.jpg
Quite tasty, sausage, bacon, egg, black pudding & fried bread, not too big a plateful so i wasn't my usual stuffed

After wondering about the lard :skull: in the masa for your breakfast, I found you selected a healthy option.:p Every days a school day :kissing_heart:
Green corn tamales, made from fresh corn rather than dried masa and steamed in the fresh husks are airy rather than dense and, even blended so heavily with cheese, butter and green chiles, just packed with corn taste from the inside out.:sun:

We’ll, now even I am feeling better about my breakfast, @Dartplayer! I learn something new every day. Thanks for doing a little research for me because I learned some new things about my beloved green corn tamales from you. :):kissing_heart:

Then you wouldn’t need the muffs, Dougie! :sun::cool:;):joy: Or at least not very often.

There are many of us who like a bit of muff but sadly don’t get it as often as we’d like…

Is this yet another example of those English to American misunderstandings?

Actually, from your post it's clear that "muff" has the same meaning(s) here as there, @Cyborgbot. I was tempted to crack a joke about Dougie and his muffs, but I decided to exercise a bit of restraint. ;)

This afternoon I rode over to our local Harley dealership to meet up with a friend and see what Black Friday sales we might find. We'd received an advertisement in the mail that anyone shopping today would get a $20 "gift card" good towards anything in the store. If nothing else it was a good excuse to ride a bit and hit the dealership to see what new goodies--or bikes--might have come in since we last were there. I was on my Low Rider S and my ride buddy was on his Heritage Classic.
    IMG_4675.jpeg

    IMG_4679.jpeg

We were parked near the Service Department so started there. There were a large number of bikes in the "waiting area" of service including this 1979 shovelhead that was quite distinctive. I'd love to meet the owner!
    IMG_4669.jpeg

    IMG_4671.jpeg

Next to that bike was a Sportster that immediately looked VERY familiar to me. It turns out that it belongs to my friend and boss, Leila, with whom I was scheduled to ride last Saturday until her bike began to make some very disturbing sounds. And now here it is, sitting in the service department to get that all figured out and fixed.
    IMG_4673.jpeg

Nothing jumped out at me today that I had to have even with my Black Friday $20 gift card to use which was only valid today. I did learn that you could only use the gift card on full price items and the only thing that interested me was a good-looking long sleeve tee shirt but it was on sale so no additional discount could be applied. So no purchase today. I was, however, smitten with this 2021 Fat Boy in Black Jack Metallic! I'm sure they'd have let me use the $20 gift card if I bought that bike but that $20 wouldn't have gone very far on that particular purchase I'm afraid!

Back home again in the driveway just as the sun was starting to sink in the west. IMG_4680.jpeg
