She's mostly pit bull, but apparently she has some American Standard Rug Buncher in her too.



Last summer I adjusted the back storm door so it closed a bit quicker. She knows how to hit the latch to let herself out. Well, apparently, with the door closing quicker, her timing was off and it closed on her tail! It took off the last segment of her tail bone. Bloody mess and quite painful, I'm sure. All healed now. The hair closed around it and you can't even tell. She's about an inch shorter, though.

 

Sometimes, the mutt is too keen to be photographed.

As of the lately, she still won't let me pick her up and remains leery/hand-shy around me but I feel like we're on a better path. The Mrs can pick her up no problem. Has no issue hitting me up for snacks though… typical cat. She meanders up a little more willingly now when I offer out my hand and she's starting to greet me at the door too… kind of. Distance is still maintained.

She definitely had some dude or maybe some boy(s) pester her around the house over the years. She's not terrified of me so I don't think she was abused, especially considering her overall well-nourished and healthy state. I just think she was antagonized by some male presence. It has certainly effected her negatively.

It could take months, maybe a year, but we'll get there… or not. Bottom line she's in a better place and even if she's always unsure of me we'll always make certain she's well looked after, secure, and in peace. At the end of the day, they're family, aren't they?

She likes to sun bathe...

 

Good for you mate. Keep the faith and patience. She'll come around in time.

 

Thanks for the update and the wonderful photos. She's a very pretty kitty. It does sound like she's coming around and that you're quite willing to be patient and give her the benefit to the doubt. And you are so right, Golgotha. At the end of the day, they're family.

 

Thanks. The MIL made an interesting observation. Said she looks like she's wears lipstick. I kind of can't unsee it now.

 

My daughter is on the road quite a bit with her band. My granddaughter desperately wanted a dog, but that just doesn't suit their lifestyle. The slow season for the band is coming in and my daughter is taking fewer gigs, so she relented and they picked up a dog from the pound the other day. The mutt is getting along well with them, adjusting, and totally ignores the cat, "Honey-Diamond-Mustard", named by my granddaughter when she was four. The cat, on the other hand is not so sure about this newcomer.

"Poltroon! Get back here! I'll give you what for!

Floyds trail run of a box I'm making him for the back of the car. He likes it! So now I've finished it with a cage over the top, he'll be visiting a beach in the morning for a good run... I can't wait, he'll love it and he's never been to a beach before
