I’m not sure that’s what he said, but if your look at the title of the forum it does say Triumph. This mean we like Triumphs. If it had said Harley Davidson then I’d expect HD enthusiasts to be vocal. Those choppers do look stupid if seen through a lens of classic fan of Triumphs. But as it’s @Dave49 you are picking a fight with then please knock yourself out. I have tried for ages to make him see sense but have realised that I just need to accept him as he is. He’s in my opinion really annoying, but have grown to appreciate his antagonistic comments as they do (sadly) make you think. I have never changed my view but do appreciate the chance to explore other ideas. I’d not get emotional about it. Edit: I’d like to think he dislikes me too but can also enjoy the jovial sparing.
I made a simple statement. You just banged out several sentences to explain how you feel. What's that about "emotional?"
Speaking of ape hangers...Took a test ride on a Victory High-Ball a few years ago at a dealership in North Jersey. The High Ball is a kinda' factory bobber with stock ape hangers. I had never ridden with apes before. I was right behind the sales guy who was leading the ride of eight bikes. He took us on this winding, mountainous road (yes, Jersey has mountains in the NW part of the state) around a big reservoir. I didn't want to look like a pussy and lag behind this jerk, but, not being used to the apes, I was riding way over my head keeping up with him. My knees were shaking when we got back to the dealership. I got off that bike and kissed the ground.
We picked up a second hand Speedmaster recently that's got apes on it. We're switching back to the factory bars but I've been having a blast putting' around on this thing all aped-out. I like the pendulum aspect that apes give it on turns. I'd be tempted to keep them on but the Mrs is having a hard time with them. She's kind of new to riding and there are distinctive challenges with apes, especially at lower speeds. …..Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to get off my dead ass from laying around all day interwebbing and go break some traffic laws on my Speed Twin.
Damn - I’d like to plagiarise @DCS900 monkey doing the drum sting thing. I can’t as it would be a) rude and b) I don’t know how. My IQ has dropped since having three glasses of wine.
