Don’t know about you lot, but Ry Cooder is one of those artists that come in from the side, just as you’d forgotten about them, and they totally nail it for you! If you don’t know his work, then go and use the sieve of an open mind and you’ll pluck out some beauties!!!
That George Thorogood album is in my "Motorcycle Mix" playlist on my iPhone, @Pegscraper. I find it a great listen while riding.
A bit subjective really… how do you choose “truly best”? What is Rock n Roll? It’s a great album (along with their first, but that was ‘89) that sits happily amongst its peers… depends who is choosing and what mood they are in that day! Californication or BloodSugarSexMagik - RHCP Vs or Ten - Pearl Jam The colour and the shape - Foo Fighters Images and words - Dream Theater Rage against the machine - Rage against the machine Definitely maybe - Oasis Aenima - Tool Ok computer or The Bends - Radiohead Dirt - Alice in chains Metallica (Black album) - Metallica Nevermind - Nirvana Around the fur - Deftones Shake your money maker - Black Crowes Keep the faith - Bon Jovi Achtung Baby - U2 Dookie - Greenday
Ry Cooder was the real contender to Steve Vai in the movie "Crossroads" guitar battle. No Ralph Macchio is not a karateka, neither a guitar hero, he is an actor.
A quality track from 1969, a great year when man landed on the moon; the Beatles gave their famous last performance; and in the Stonewall Inn, NY… a clash between police and its patrons came to be known as The Stonewall Rebellion, considered the birth of the homosexual rights movement. (Also the year my wife was born)
Rory Gallagher… the guitar player’s guitar player! Three great tracks, feel free to add your own fav. Bad Penny Shin Kicker Barley and grape rag
Not everyone’s taste, but some great guitar work... I must admit I prefer Tommy Emmanuel’s albums, but this is a lovely arrangement.
