Hi, I’m new here and looking for help. So the other day outside of my place of work a woman clipped my friends bike and pushed it over on to my street twin. Luckily they were very close together and the only damage was where his bar end hit/scrapped down the back side of my instrument housing (picture attached) The woman was very apologetic and happy to pay for parts as I am always happy to tinker with my bike. I am just struggling to find the housing online. Does anyone know of any good shops/sites that I can contact. I have only had my triumph for a few months so still new to the best places to go.
    thanks for any help

    Hi Jamie

Sorry to hear about your bike but at least the person responsible is willing to pay.

The World Of Triumph website is a great resource with exploded parts diagrams and prices for most models including yours.

    www.worldoftriumph.cpm/collections/bikes.

You can order from them as well.

The other place you could try is Fowlers Parts, just type it into your search bar. Fowlers are the Bristol area Triumph dealer. Again their website gives exploded diagrams, prices and availability.

If you want to use your own local dealer just get the part number and buy from your local Triumph dealer.

Looking at the photo of the damage:-
Good News the black housing (PNo. T2502448) is only £25-15 plus p&p. :)
Bad news the silver trim is part of the speedo itself which will set you back a mere £497.68!

Hope that helps and you continue to enjoy what is a lovely bike.

Absolutely ridiculous price for the speedo.

Agreed but it'll be all the electronics stuffed inside it, that's the cost of "progress".:(

That won’t be easy to fix,

Settle for a cash in hand and live with the damage or ask for a new box and other bits.

Better still get her insurance details and deal with them - why should you do the hard work repairing it. As has been said, it won’t be cheap and if you start repairing stuff and she goes back on her word, you will struggle to get anything from anyone.

Definitely do it by the book. Why wouldn’t you?

Edit: Have you reported it to your insurance company? It may invalidate a claim (should she default) and you need to get your money back. Not that any company would payout on the basis of a few Fowlers receipts without the damage being assessed first.

At least get a quote in writing from a garage (or two) before doing anything yourself.

Thank you so much for that. I am not far from Bristol so I was planning a trip to Fowler’s next week anyway.
    Thanks again

Happy to help, but I’m inclined to agree with Cyborgbot if you’re inclined to replace the Speedo as well as the back. That could be complicated especially if any programming is needed to set the mileage. Definitely talk to a dealer for what’s involved and get a quote. You can be sure the lady who did this will not be expecting that big a bill for what looks like a scratch.

If you decide to do just the back yourself, then do it with the aid of a Haynes manual just to ensure against missing something that makes things worse.

I agree with that. Some stupid bitch, reversed 30ft across a carpark, into my bike, with such force, that it bent the rear crashbar, fucked the paintwork on the pannier and shoved the bike back 6ft on the sidestand. She didn't want to involve her insurance either, until i showed her the quote of £1200 +. Then she said it was my fault for parking there. Unreal.

Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction but one thing to bare in mind is that if you notify your insurance company they will count it as an accident that you were “involved “ in when you next come to renew which will have an impact on your premium for the next 5 years. I would think a good body shop would be able to plastic fill the silver and repaint it at a price that would be more acceptable. If it was me though I’d be looking at it every day and need it sorting, I couldn’t live with that, perhaps not what you want to hear, all the best

Just wondering if you could get the clock rears vinyl wrapped and take a cash lump to pay for it. That would still leave the trim needing some attention and just right now I'm not sure what to suggest but something could be done.
It's possible new vinyl could look like the original finish. Just an idea. :)

Or just scrub it out with an abrasive, and polish. and hit the dopey bitch for the cost of the new parts. I would hate to see her walk away unscathed
