Had a trip down memory lane this evening, or rather a run to a favourite old venue I was all over back in the 90's before the cameras were put up. An enforced 50mph doesn't seem that bad on the Scrambler. I sat and watched numerous top flight sportsbikes ride past on the speed limit and just thought "why bother even coming up here on one anymore"? Had a good chat with a new rider on a 650 Interceptor and we extolled the virtues of "Classic" riding.:)

Rode from Market Harborough to Police HQ in Northallerton Yorkshire to tell police officers about the route to The Gambia next march, when we are convoying ambulances to the rural areas to begin to establish an ambulance service where there isn't one at present. The trip is sponsored by National Police Aid Charity and the International Police Federation with volunteer drivers from the UK and Europe.
Follow us on twitter @opZephyr and Instagram: The_Long_Patrol for more info.

After the meeting I rode back down the M1 and got diverted at junction26a because of a vehicle fire and went through Mansfield and Nottingham before re-joining the M1 at J24 and called in to The Fosse riders clubroom for a toastie and coffee,, arriving home after 366 miles and two refuelling stops during the day.
It will be a lazy day tomorrow!!

@BATEBY45 that sounds like a worthy exercise.

Thank you for posting the links to the initiative. I’m no social media expert but will try my best to have a look.

    Thank you.

Attended the South West NHS Ride of thanks. About 600 bikes raising money for their chosen charity, The Freewheelers blood supply bikes. Parked up next to this lovely old Norton before setting off

Went for a blast on the daytona this afternoon and it ended when I started to hear a rattling noise and after about a mile it started getting louder so I pulled the clutch in and the engine cut out straight away. Looks like I'll be scouring the Web for new internals, bike stripped down and it was siezed solid.

How it started vs how it ended....

There should be a sad face emoji response for a post like yours, @Jugg. :sob: I hope you get your bike in top form without too much difficulty.

On Saturday, I've been to a day with "la Gendarmerie" (like police). Booked my place 3 months ago, Rendez-vous at 7:30. 120 bikes, all type all ages, men, women. Cool heteroclite attendance.
Am, some stands, airbag test, bike maintenance advise, first emergency advise, etc. Interesting.
Then big lunch. Afternoon 4 video to explain the "safety trajectoire" the gendarme uses to have a better view and control of the road.
Then time to fire up the Triumph. We are a 5 riders group with a gendarme on his blue FJR 1300.
Let's go for 100 km, only mountain roads, to apply the "safety trajectoire". First curves, the Gendarme touches the road with the bike just to show us he knows his stuff. :) Very interesting day, I've pushed my limits further I would imagine. The most tiring 100 km of my life. The Sprint ST 1050 was the only one, and did very well. I'll look after next year edition (in Albertville) to book my place (30 euros for the day, lunch included)
Welcome kit with a nice Opinel knife (made locally)

Doing nothing with my Triumph today.

Probably not a good idea to get a dog whilst Covid restrictions are still ‘sort of in place’ so best not to make rash decisions. The old saying was “a dog isn’t for Christmas” but should say “a dog isn’t for being bored during Covid”…

I am however intrigued as to how you got the dog back on a bike.

I believe @Vulpes used this joke earlier but feel it pertinent to this crazy rambling joke…

    Ok, it’s not a poodle.

Edit: Sorry for being an arse - I was joking. Please don’t block me!!!

It's a standard but he can't drive yet so sits on the pillion and holds on with his teeth.
I wouldn't want his lipstick to be like that one though, so if he shows those tendencies, he'll be staying in the kennel.

No idea how to block. Once I find out, I'll block everyone. It'll be a solo forum then, nice and quiet. Just me posting to myself.:no_mouth:

    Over...

Back east for a spell. Had a few bits and pieces waiting for me in the mail. Finally threw down on a fly screen. I went Rizoma, short. A lot of folks think these things are useless outside style and looks but I disagree. They perform my desired function perfectly. Note ball cap hanging off the mirror in the first pic.

    So much win.

I looks like you fitted those great mods only so you could hang or stow your cap.

The upside is of course a nice looking bike with storage. :)

Got the daytona all stripped down ready to pull the engine out for a proper strip down tonight. Bagging and tagging all the wee bits takes so long. Hopefully pull the engine out and onto the bench tomorow night if I get a minute
