I took delivery of a pair of Lextek exhausts for my interceptor today. They came with no fitting instructions, so working out the correct configuration took a while. However once I had it sorted they went on ok. First impressions are that they are much richer sound to the oem exhausts.
I will go for a test run tomorrow and post some picture….

For yesterday's Sunday morning ride I chose to ride my Street Glide Special. There wasn't anything about the route that led to that choice--only that that's the bike I'd gone the longest without riding so it was next in the queue. We rode to Coyote Pause, a west side restaurant that is on our short list of Covid-era choices thanks to their lovely outdoor courtyard seating. The ride over Gates Pass was beautiful and--like yesterdays ride--the air was thick with butterflies! When we arrived at our destination we talked about how thick they were and all agreed that none of us had every seen so many butterflies in our lifetimes.

Todays bikes included two Suzukis and three Harleys: a Suzuki Ninja 400, a Suzuki DR650 (2003), my orange H-D Street Glide Special, a H-D Heritage Classic Softail, and Mr. Sandi's black H-D Street Glide. Mr. Sandi's bike is not in the photo because he (wisely) chose the last available remaining shady spot being first into the parking lot.:sun: One of the perks of leading the group. ;)

Some of you may have seen the knife comparison photos in one of my previous ride reports. Seems like that's now become a bit of a breakfast routine. Here's today's collection. My knife is the orange Kershaw with the silver clip. The other orange Kershaw with the black clip used to be Mr. Sandi's. But he and the owner of the green Kershaw were admiring each others knives so much that they decided to trade! :joy: So Mr. Sandi is now the owner of that green knife at the bottom of the photo. :)

Have any of you had (or heard of) Migas before? I really like that dish but still elected to get my usual Southwest Scramble with a side of fruit. I was happy that they've started making cinnamon rolls again so had one of those, too, in place of the mesquite pancake I've been getting for the last year or so. But....no bacon! ;):joy:

I was so excited to dig into my cinnamon roll that I had it half eaten before I thought to snap a photo. :yum

There are lots of little shops in the plaza that houses Coyote Pause. Most of the items for sale are the work of local artists. Today while waiting in line to place my breakfast order I noticed that there were also wall hangings by local artists for sale right in the restaurant entry way. I got a chuckle out of the piggy although these days in Arizona it would more accurately read "Masks Recommended, Bacon Required" as most businesses (thought not all) have done away with a mask requirement.

Apart from my passion for motorcycles, I also share the hobby of cycling with my wife. Until now, we rode numerous tours on our semi-professional road bikes. But since a few weeks we have additionally afforded single-speed bikes. This is completely against the current e-bike trend, but it's a lot of fun.
After a few test rides in our immediate vicinity, I first took my single-speed bike to its technical and my physical performance limits yesterday.
    Route length: 34.36 km
Slope: 346 meters of altitude uphill; For this type of bike is actually not intended / built, but where there is a will, there is also a way. True to my motto in cycling: "Can't be done, doesn't exist!".
My biggest challenge was braking on the long and very fast downhill from speed 71.3 km/h, because of course the brakes (1 front brake and a coaster brake as on a child's bike) are also not designed for this.
It was very exhausting, but still a lot of fun.

Yesterday I met @andypandy for breakfast at Yondermans cafe in the Derbyshire Dales. We have been talking about a September trip for a while, so after some food we put together a plan to tour in the Isle of Man. Later on during the evening we booked the ferry and a hotel for the week, so we are all set for another road trip next week. We leave on Monday coming home on the following Saturday. So happy days.

I had gone on the interceptor and unfortunately on the way home the engine warning light came on. My first thought was that the new Lextek exhaust that I fitted the day before was the cause of the issue? Anyway I stopped and checked the oil level and all electrics without anything obvious showing. The only visable issue was that the neutral light on the dash had gone out and was not showing even when the bike was in neutral. So based on my initial investigation I conclued there was no real engine issues so rode on. I contacted the dealers when I was able who said to bring the bike in that day. So off I popped.

The dealer investigated and they identified that the gear select sensor had failed which is why the neutral light was not showing and they were un able to clear the engine management light. As the bike was fine other than this they agreed that I could ride home and they would order the part and complete the repair uner warranty when the part arrives. A big shout out for the Potteirs Motorcycles. Quite an eventual day, still we got our trip planned so it ended well.

Oh by the way the new exhaust sound awesome :):)

Saw quite a few Royal Enfields out in Derbyshire yesterday, one set looked like a club outing, maybe 7 or 8 in one group.
Happy IOM touring chaps, hope the weather is good for you.

Nah, wasn’t that two folks out for a ride followed by several donor machines for when they break?

Just kidding. They’re actually quite reliable aren’t they? None of this incomprehensible and complicated engineering to go wrong, and if they do it is possible to do road side fixes.

    They look fun.

What is it with you and gears on your bikes Steve? First the lever fell orf the Thruxton now the selector thingy has gone “toes up” (pun intended) on the RE. Perhaps you should swap the boots for ballet shoes:p

I have no idea @Yorkshireman (Andy). Not sure any action I’m taking can influence an electric switch failing, but yep it does seem to be a bit suspicious doesn’t it, particularly after the linkage failure on the Thruxton (and not to forget the speed twin) :)
    Just bad luck I guess.
