I see your point about running in top gear at the lowest possible speed Yorkshireman, I just hope I never get into that mode myself as I get older. The thing is some of the aforementioned t**ts look younger than me (I'm 62) so perhaps the stereo types of the old git with a trilby (no offense intended to other trilby wearers)might not be completely correct. I've told the missus if I ever get into that 'mode' she has my authority to shoot me on the spot. I used to enjoy driving (both car and bikes, even vans!) but now a 50 odd mile drive is more often than not, a chore rather than a pleasure.

Just as an aside, my son in law has got a speeding ticket for doing 61 in a 60. Yes, I kid you not. All is not quite as it seems though. He was travelling in his VW T5 transporter which is kitted out as a camper van.. My daughter and her 2 young kids were in the vehicle at the time as they were going for a short break away in Norfolk. The ticket arrived shortly after they returned home and the justification (if that's the right term) from the police was that the vehicle was a commercial van and therefore limited to 50 mph on that particular stretch of road. It has no sign writing on it, colour coded bumpers, large alloy wheels and blacked out windows. Even Stevie Wonder could see its a Camper type vehicle and not a commercial, but clearly the Police think otherwise! As I write this, the son in law is sending a letter (with photos of the van) explaining the situation.and asking them if they will cancel the ticket. Watch this space........

Funny how Hancock was forced to resign after hugging his colleague whereas the England coach hugged everyone after winning versus Germany, including some of the German team. I don’t suppose he (and the England players) will be forced to resign. If ur a winner you can get away with it.

I’m not a fan of Hancock but think whilst he made many mistakes, he probably did some good too - even if by lucky chance.

Not sure why politicians have to fall on the sword when they do something mildly stupid or what most citizens are doing (Sturgeon is the exception who brazenly carries on regardless of opinion). They are (probably) only human after-all.

There is a rather important difference: the England coach wasn't the person telling the nation not to hug each other. It's called hypocrisy. One rule for them and another for the rest of us. That's why he had to go. Even his own party colleagues could see that, despite Bunter's attempt to protect him.

As for your aside about Sturgeon 'carrying on regardless of opinion', I think that opinion here was demonstrated quite well by her landslide victory in last month's election. (Unless, of course, you mean the opinion of the Mail and the Daily Express, neither of which exactly carries much weight.)

    It was tongue in cheek…

I was thinking respected public figures should also abide by the rules and set an example that ministers (both sides of the boarder) can learn from.

Just because some members of the public (40% of the regional vote 2021) put a cross in the SNP box does not mean they wholeheartedly forgave that politicians behaviour (always worth remembering that a majority of 60% didn’t vote for the SNP - maybe they were all wrong). The SNP supporters were possibly voting for the party and manifesto as we don’t vote for a prime/first minister. Even elected members of the SNP weren’t totally impressed of her disingenuous behaviour which almost got someone thrown in jail.

It’s impossible to know now how many ideas/suggestions he might’ve had and boris put a dampener on them that could’ve possibly occurred now I suppose. But, press camping outside his old/ex wife’s house with cameras is straight out of order imo.
Should leave her alone and with dignity.
As for Hancock? At least he went (unlike wee Jimmy crankie) with out a prolonged saga I suppose.
And chances of getting a trip to the Black Forest this year? Fu1£ing zero now.

Well Honda CRV drivers are just s**t. Today one decided that I shouldn't be in front of him at a roundabout after filtering up on the offside at walking speed so he decided to try to knock me off by driving at me - I kid you not! Then started berating me and picked up his phone at which point I pointed out that it was on camera, called him a d**khead and rode off at the speed limit of 40mph. He then proceeded to tailgate me on a dual carriageway at 70mph before I turned off after 2 miles to go on my way. I actually thought he was going to follow me all the way to my destination of Newport Pagnell. This was in Suffolk and he was a typical arrogant Suffolk driver. Unbelievable. Rant over.

Maybe form a hunting party and take out the slowest rider. Repeat every 15 minutes.

That will be sure to hurry them along.

Reality TV???? That's stretching the word reality somewhat!. The real housewives of god knows where??? Love Island, the only way is Essex etc etc. What's in any way real about them? The women look 95% synthetic to me and that's before they say anything. Clearly people watch this stuff otherwise the TV companies wouldn't air it, but really?? Excuse me whilst I go and take the lid off a tin of paint and watch it dry.

That's not fun being followed by a potentiel dangerous idiot.
Happened to me a couple of weeks ago in town, the car started following me a few centimeter from my rear wheel, because I told the young guy he can't stop his car in the middle of the road with no reason (politely).
It ended as quickly as it started I I stopped the bike and jumped off to eventually use uncivilized violence against this idiot.
He ran away, but could have hurt me with his psycho driving.
    Hate that situations.

What shows? Never seen or heard of them.

So glad I pay a TV license fee. If only so a few twats can feel like they won the lottery every morning (I’m not specifically mentioning Ball or Lineker as even news readers get paid significant sums for doing bugger all).

I also really appreciate that our kids fund university deans £500k plus salaries whilst they suffer the debt burden for years - and leave with crap degrees that industry don’t respect.

I am not a lefty like some our our brethren but hate this shit.

The bleedin' council have been brushing horrible black slurry over all the footpaths around the white van areas/poorer parts of Bristol. There's none of this stuff around the posh areas. A bloke goes round taping/masking up all the covers and kerbs and then the paths are covered with a layer of black shite. While it's wet/sticky/nearly dry anyone walking on it or trying to get across to paths drives etc has to live with footprints/tyre trench outside their house and black marks up their path forever. Someone down the road has ended up with this

    footpath.jpg

Do the people in the Council actually think about anything FFS.
