    Found some second hand Hepco & Becker crash bars for the Street Twin.
    Asking £125, granted they’re in v good condition but they have been fitted, they obviously don’t come with a manufacturers warranty and they are collection only (200 miles away).
    I’ve come in at £100 with a colleague collecting and they still want £110... if they post them I’d probably hand over the £125 purely for the convenience but no.. £110 it is.
    Without sounding like I’m ranting, am I being unreasonable? They’re around £175 online, new and delivered. Do you guys think I’m better off just getting new and at my door in a few days or should I lay out the £110 and suffer the hassle of £20 postage on top once my colleague has collected?
    Cheers all

    Jim

    The aren’t going to get many buyers for such a specific item and when only offering collection only.. I would stick to your original offer. Or buy new as suggested.

    Is the hassle worth £45?
    I'd probably just buy new.

    I was given a tip many years ago by a chap who ran a second hand tool shop. “If it’s second hand and in good condition then it’s worth half the new price!” Simple guide I’ve found to be a useful yardstick.

    Like many other fellow forum members I would buy new, second hand they should be at least half the cost of new ones, sounds like the guy is a little greedy to me

    Hi all, thanks for all the replies... my rule of thumb is also 50% of RRP, especially if they've been fitted. I'm going to buy new, goood luck to the seller.

    Love the bit about the yard stick, cracked me up :joy:

    Yes good on you. Second hand bars you never know straight or bent and a seller you says you did that. New guaranteed and delivered. Drop us all a picture when fitted and give us you thoughts.
    Joe.

    I’ve ordered the new bars. I’ve been watching a pair on eBay for ages and by chance the seller offered 10% off yesterday so chuffed with that.

    I’ve got those and some spoked wheels on the way now, just gotta try and get it all fitted ready for the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride on the 22nd... I’ll post some pics.

    Hope you just wasted your $$ with the bars... {never having to put them to the test}

    Yes, me too!
    I’ll be honest, I’ll be honest... I’ve only bought them for aesthetics but crash protection is a bonus.
