Collected the MV from its BIG service. It hasn’t been looked at in 5 years and not ridden either due to DIY projects and a Speed Triple RS arriving in the garage....It was big service and new tyres etc. Don’t ask how much ....but on the ride home it felt like a new bike despite it being 04 registration and 12000 miles old. Wow it was great to be on it and now I’m spoilt for choice.
I’m not sure, gradually possibly but it certainly won’t lose anymore value now. I paid 12k for it in 2005 and it’s probably worth 6500 now, so not bad in 16 years. You can’t put a price on the joy of ownership though...!
I rode my Street Glide Special today for the first time since early March on our overnighter MC trip to Douglas AZ and the Gadsden Hotel, followed two days later by elbow surgery. I've been back to riding for about two weeks but started back "gently" by riding my Speed Triple and Low Rider S which are significantly lighter than my Harley touring bike. I had a great ride and it was good to be out on my "big boy". I really didn't feel like I'd not been on this bike for six weeks. Thankfully. Mr. Sandi and I headed out at noon for a 55-mile ride that included Gates Pass, Tucson Mountain Park, Saguaro National Park, and--our only stop--the H-D dealership. The weather was perfect--light breeze, temperature right around 80ºF, brilliant blue skies. When the temperatures are 80º here in the desert it feels like 70º most anyplace else because the humidity is exceeding low. As I type this, the humidity is 6%. I'll ride my Street Glide again tomorrow on our group ride then tuck it at the front of the garage until next Saturday when a half dozen of us are two a two-night motorcycle ride to Prescott, AZ for a little get-outta-town shindig. I rode my Low Rider S yesterday and will ride my Speed Triple on Monday. Decided I'd ride all three bikes in one weekend this weekend. Not such great photos but this was our only stop and Mr. Sandi was itching to get home and practice his guitar.
I'm sorry to hear your actual spring weather isn't like spring weather is supposed to be, @OsteKuste. Fingers crossed that it warms up in TN and you can get out on the roads.
I dislike humidity like you love the water @Sandi T, great to read your trip report and experience your weather as we move into winter. Still high teens (approx 64f) at the moment, but scattered showers around fine days.
Looks lovely, this bike has crossed my mind many times as being the ideal bike. Not too sporty but enough to enjoy a sporty ride. Not too tourer but enough to tour on. I wish Triumph would make a bike like this based upon the Speed Triple RS.....
Had a ride on the interceptor today. Called at Staffordshire Triumph and had a browse around. Friendly bunch in there.
They look great, what a lovely shot ...! I’ve been reading a bit about the new Speed Triple and several of the reviews say that the suspension is on the firm side.... They’ve obviously never ridden an MV . Now that is what a Firm Ride really is......
