If you’re up that way, the view from Thorncliffe Bank is second to none, you can see an awfully long way, out past Jodrell Bank to Wales.
    I’ve been up there today.

I've been that way a couple of times, instead of the usual main road route through Buxton and Axe Edge, take the back roads through Tideswell and Longnor and on to Leek over the moors past the military gun range. Your right about the views, on a cold clear Winters day they're superb. :grinning:

This past weekend my goal was to ride each of my three bikes so that each got some "exercise" and so that no one felt neglected and left out. ;):) I rode my Low Rider on Friday, my Street Glide on Saturday and Sunday, and yesterday (saved the best for last, eh?) I rode my Speed Triple

I went out on my own so I could go where I wanted and stop when I wanted and just "play it by ear". I decided to do a favorite route, one that we call "Gates and Saguaro West". It's a gorgeous ride and Mr. Sandi and I did pretty much this same route on Saturday when I was on my Street Glide. It's definitely somewhat of a different ride on the two very different bikes. But beautiful either way!

I started out gassing up at one of our favorite gas stations, QT (QuikTrip) which has Tier 1 gas. I snapped a pic of the prices because I'm curious to know what prices others of you are paying for gasoline/petrol these days?

My first stop after filling my tank was on the front side of Gates Pass at the turnout with the Tucson Mountain Park welcome sign. This route includes both Tucson Mountain Park (a Pima County park) and Saguaro National Park--West.
    IMG_3886.jpeg

My next stop was at the visitor overlook at the top of Gates Pass. This is a view looking back east towards the city of Tucson. The road that goes over the pass is to the right in the photo--you can see the curvy road sign. The summit altitude of Gates Pass is 3,146 feet. The more visible road to the left is the road that goes off that road and takes you to the visitor overlook.
    IMG_3893.jpeg

My next stop was at the Red Hills Visitor Center which is in Saguaro National Park--West. There's an East unit also. The sister park units are about 30 miles apart. This visitor center is beautiful includes a gift shop with cool items related to southern Arizona and the park and the desert including foods, books, toys, maps, and gifts. I stayed outside today simply enjoying the sun, the perfect temperatures (in the 70ºs F the entire ride), and the views. :sun::) This snap was taken in a no-parking area but I stopped just long enough to get this photo then moved to an "official" parking place.
    IMG_3912.jpeg

For a Monday there were certainly a lot of tourists. That first photo of Speedy at me at the Saguaro National Park sign was taking by a woman who was visiting from Georgia.

Today's ride was about 50 miles--glorious miles at that. When I arrived back home, Mr. Sandi and our riding buddy, RS, were engaged in their weekly jam session in the back yard. So I topped off my delicious afternoon of riding with a delicious IPA while listening to them play and soaking in the peacefulness of our backyard. I've become even more appreciative of life's simple pleasures after nearly a year and half filled with challenges.

Thanks for posting @Sandi T great as always.
I hadn’t thought about tourism there until you raised it. With the US being so large COVID-19 would curtail some travel but you still have travel.:p
NZ and Australia have been haemorrhaging $$ with closed borders and no tourists.
I took a shot of our gas prices for Auckland City with higher taxes and closest region Waikato, plus some from the South Island. :D Prices are per litre (1 us gallon is 3.78l) and our high to low octane ratings equate.
With the pricing close and the measurements about 3.5 times less fuel in NZ, it gives you a good idea how expensive fuel is in NZ :sob:

    Here a litre of 95 octane (that's 91 US) is €1,78 which is $2,14 US... o_O

In our neck of the woods, typically, £1.23 - £1.26/litre for standard UL, anything over £1.35 for SU and around £1.27 - £1.29 for standard derv. Fill up at a motorway service station and you can easily add 10p/litre to to those prices. Prices can vary quite a bit up and down the country.

Ouch on those gas prices, Dartplayer!:scream: Tourism, yes. Things are interesting here in the U.S. in that, even when it is made clear that we are not yet "out of the woods", in many states (including Arizona) all governmental restrictions have been lifted and what's left is what individual entities and businesses--and individuals--choose to do or not do. Just today I read that our governor lifted all mask mandates on schools. I'm not feeling the love on that, let me tell you. But our school district along with nearly all of them in Pima County are electing to keep those mask requirements in place. I mean, sheesh, there are only five weeks left in the school year....politics. :( Thank goodness for how suited motorcycling is to social distancing. ;):)

Thanks, Dawsy. You are right and believe you me, I know it. In fact, I said as much about being in heaven when I was chillin' in the backyard with the boys...and the beer.:)

Still waiting for the snow to start clearing up AGAIN but the cosmetic mods are on the way and I can't wait to see how it looks! Found a company I wanted to give a try for the fender eliminator and flush mount signals since I can't seem to source the ones everyone used to run on Daytona's back in the day, they're called Motodynamic so if anyone has any previous experience with them do please tell, I just don't like the way any of the other offerings look (and just not a big fan of Competition Werks as a whole so I didn't go with theirs either).

But anyways all the regular items; fender eliminator, flush mount front signals and smaller sequential LED signals in the rear, and mirror block offs. I'll probably order the Armour Body track fairings soon too because track days are right around the corner and I cant even begin to imagine how much I would kick myself if I went down with all the carbon o_O

After complaints from my favorite pillion rider, and a look at the "max speed" dashboard function, I've been put face to face with facts. I can't see the small numbers on the speedo, and regularly underestimate those.
So time to put in place the cheapest speed limiter available.

Took the Tiger on a charity ride put together by one of the local MCs. 95% of the bikes on the ride were various flavors of Harley, two Victories, a BMW, my friend on her CanAm Spyder, and me on the only Triumph.

As expected I got a fair amount of ribbing from the Harley riders, but I found it quite amusing that at every single stop, a few people came over to compliment the Tiger.

Was a load of fun, and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Tuesday, I rode it to get my second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Then I slept for about 24 hours straight...

Today, I had to take my Tiger 750 off of the ramp to turn it around so I could take the front wheel out to fit a new disk.

Thought I’d take a snap of the new slimmed down arse end, with it’s new pipes on.
    B9F7AE44-7C5C-4F7A-8C08-27658408A61B.jpeg

It seemed rude to have it out and not start it, sounds lush. Took it up the lane, the brakes are non-existent, but I’m on with that.
I can’t decide what to do indicator wise, I’ve taken off the rear ones, they were fixed to the grab rail, so I’ve either got to take off the front ones and go without or find some smaller, sleeker ones.
So far it’s had:- new fork stanchions and seals; new tyres, new shocks, new exhausts, new mudguards (front and rear) and by the end of this evening new front disk and pads.

Not today, but yesterday I took my third ride this week, an all day affair to and around the Peek District, slow relaxed cruising in the glorious sunshine. :grinning:
