Worked outside for several hours Saturday with HH and two of our kids. I was using a pick-axe while HH swung the mattock to break up our Georgia red clay and the kids shoveled and hauled. When the 14-yo was released to bicycle to a friend's, I suggested to HH we stop a little early, pop the 12-yo on his bike and we take the long way out to eat. He didn't disappoint:)...after 40 miles on beautiful country roads we arrived at a Mexican restaurant with only a 5-mile ride home afterwards. Earlier in the afternoon I'd banged my knee pretty good, enough to muffle cross words and sit out with an icepack for a bit: unamused::confounded:, so I was pleased to find no ill effect on riding...dancing the next day was another story. Also on the short ride home something glanced off my thigh; since it was just dark by then and I can't figure anything else it could've been, I'm guessing it was a bat. That was the first time riding my T100 in the dark; considering adding the LED to the headlight. Also want more rear visibility but not sure what to add there.

Sounds like a fun run, Martine! I'm glad the ill effects of banging your knee seem to have been short-lived. A bat?! We have a number of those guys here in Arizona but they usually aren't that low-flying!:scream:

Installing an LED headlight is something that I'd highly recommend. I've put one in every one of my bikes that didn't already have one and have never regretted it. I'm not sure what kind of tail light(s) the T100 has but I'd opt for LEDs back there, too. They make a world of difference. I also have a couple of riding jackets with a goodly amount of reflective trim/piping that I use for night riding. I've also considered getting some sort of reflective vest that I can pop on over a riding jacket for night rides.

Yes, I was puzzled about the whole bat thing, wondering about it being so low. Could have been a small bird but with it being dark out I doubted it. Just can't figure anything else it could have been given it hit me from the side, softly but enough to feel it through my leather.

Thanks for the feedback about the LEDs. Would definitely like more light coming and going. Was wishing I'd brought my reflective vest to pull over my non-reflective jacket; was always a requirement on the military bases so I should have remembered to pack it. I have room for it to ride in my panniers now so I'll be ready next time.

My knee still doesn't like deep bends or anything other than straight motion but it's surely only days away from being whole again. And, as HH pointed out, not like I have to kick start the T100.:)

Windy Miller will be pissed off. He stopped delivering his new stones to the mill for a quick Poughman’s lunch and a pint of ale, and some b@stard built a bloody wall around it.

    Congrats on the bike. Nice!

i haven't done diddly squat on motorcycles all winter. normally i start back into it in february, but this was the coldest february we've had that i could remember, snow on the ground all month. today i would be all set to drag something out into the newly 60 F day, but i have a pickup in the shop with a hole in the brake line that's blocking the door.

so maybe i'll get that out of the way today.

Made a necessary journey this morning for my first Covid-19 Vaccination at Chester Racecourse. Very efficient, didn't feel a thing and so far no adverse reaction. A chilly but good ride and one step closer to freedom, what's not to like?
    IMG_1836.JPG

The owner of the Honda had taxed his bike especially to get his vaccination.

I turned 60 in October and my invite came with the booklet titled "Covid-19 vaccination a guide for older adults". My wife (four years younger) got a booklet titled "Covid-19 vaccination a guide for adults". I don't particularly feel old.

You were very lucky. Most bikers who actually go for their jab (1st or 2nd) on their bike almost always suffer an extreme reaction. They tend to get terribly lost on the way home and sometimes end up doing an extra hundred miles or so.

I got lost coming home from the MOT centre, I did 90 miles and it's only 2 streets away, my inbuilt satnav must be on the blink;)

Bloody hell! That happened to me today as well! Had to go into the office and somehow did 50 miles rather than 15...

I read that some bugger had been jamming the RAF GPS over Cyprus recently - I think it might be causing problems over here too!

Glad you got that first vaccination, RevPaul! And I hope you're continuing to feel ok. I did fine with #1 but felt pretty poorly for about 36 hours after vaccination #2. Mentally and emotionally I felt much better after both! Especially after the second one.

At least your Covid-19 guide said oldER adults and not old adults! :joy: Great looking bike you have.

Thought I would do a lighting upgrade so bought and fitted one of these to the Bates on my Trident.....pretty impressive compared to the 45w sealed beam I had about 70% brighter, and it's got a halo that I have wired up with the ignition, so I stand a better chance of being seen by the increasing number of morons on the roads today.

Not been on for a while & cant remember if i posted re looming the Daytona 1000 after being unable to find a broken? wire. So during the 1st n now 2nd lockdown when life doesnt get in the way ive done the brakes bled the clutch & the re loom. All the electrics work & i got a few spare connectors for a clock & god knows what at the back end of the loom. Twas to say the least a bit messy:confused:but worth it as now the fan etc all works. Loom was from a 94/95 bike maybe a Trophy as it has a clock connector? Oh as it had sat still for a year:worried:i stripped n cleaned the carbs again. Now it just needs 2 new coils as readings are crap & its "popping" on one pot:mad:. Todays job is getting clocks n front fairings back on it:cold_sweat:

Thanks for asking, Sandi...it's almost like new-ish; turns out it might take a while before lateral movement is completely normal again...uh, seems it takes a while longer for my body to heal than in earlier years:confused:. You are up close and personal with understanding about the whole healing process drill. Sigh.

No problems with it doing some light hiking yesterday at a Revolutionary War battle site. Going to get the pick-axe going again Sunday so I'll be putting the knee to the lateral test then. Chilly here today but trying to warm up HH to the idea of at least a short ride:cool:. I know my knee can handle that. Will post some pics if we do. So this is a post about what I *hope* to do with my Triumph today:blush:. Been thoroughly enjoying others' posts in the meantime.
