I am not one to normally complain about such things but I have an ill fitting knob. Maybe it is my age?

I have tried hammering it, gently teasing it...but it just won't seem to fit like it should...

The conical knob that fits in the rear axle on my 2002 Speed Triple 955 keeps falling out.

    Any suggestions?

You probably need a new o ring there. And dab on some silicon.
    Joe.

Just get an oring kit suitable for oil and petrol. I have some in my garage. I am going to the HCafe Saturday and can bring them with me if you want to try.
    Joe.

That is good of you to offer Joe, thank you. Will be nice to get out for a ride...what time might you be around the cafe?

It shrinks with age, the cold, and lack of use.

Your knob must be really small...

    :):joy:;)

(But not a small as mine)

I was aiming for around mid day. I will be riding a black Honda cb500. I will go now and get my o'ring kit and hopefully there will be one to fit.
    Joe.

Great, I'll try and be there. I'll be on a blue Triple, and a high vis airvest...probably with my leg stuck out as I'll have hip cramp.

Well, yes. We met. Rings were exposed and the best on the day selected and lubed and then some dedicated insertion attempted. We pushed, and we teased and we fettled...

The fit seemed tight, but it may just be because we are both out of practice, but also it all seemed a little ill fitting.

However we compromised with Joe carrying out one successful insertion, with his mate Keith also banging some wood. The fit seems snug and sound.

I'll have a go myself tomorrow, with some extra rings given by Joe, as I would like to give it a good hammering, but in my own time.

It was very good to meet a fellow forum member. Joe's a lovely chap, exceptionally helpful and brilliantly knowledgeable. Certainly no ordinary Joe!

Yes peeps we had a meet. And DanielB is one of the nicest gents I have had the pleasure of meeting. This is what makes this asylum so special. He really went out of his way to make thing's right and he has a rather nice speed 955. Real sweet machine. DanielB had to correct the bike title as i am showing my age.
    Joe.

Yes it was a great day. And it got me back to enjoying my bikes again as it is the first big run i have did since my accident. And it felt really good.
