Get them to do it as part of the deal when you buy the bike :)

It's a Shorai LTX14-BS from Sportsbikeshop about 70 quid . Holds charge really well . I had to pack some foam behind it to keep it secure . It was the closest size I could find at the time .

We need, of course, compare the power curves of 1050RS and 1160RS. I would not be surprised if there is increase in torque at lower rpms in the new engine, plus the lower weight. But I agree with you, these 30hp and 8nm are lost on me, my 1050RS is a relax ride road bike and I cannot complain about the power I already have.
I also know exactly what you mean about sportsbike, but I keep mine for now, it zings a bit more than my RS even at lower rpms.

Question: how much weight have you lost by replacing standard battery with lithium battery, have you weighed them both? I am curious, I haven't done that yet on my RS, but I have done it on all my other bikes (current and past).

You mean 1050RS does not have low down grunt?
117nm @ 7000rpm, I do not know how much more grunt you need and what it will provide you (besides easier wheelies). It is not like 1290 is heavier than 1050RS and with more torque you just accelerate faster up to speed limit and that's that (if you are legal).

Maybe I am missing something, I haven't tried 1290 yet, in the spring I will, back-to-back with the 1160RS (same dealer), just to get clued in, but apriori the extra 20nm from 117 of 1050RS are lost on me.

I never had problems with Lithium batteries, even when bike was sitting all day outside and got covered with snow by the evening. Turn the lights on, wait 10 seconds, start the engine, starts on the button.
What I did have is standard batteries draining in two weeks of bike standing with kill switch off. Never happened with lithium batteries.

As far as weight is concerned, RS is still new to me and I did not ride it aggressively in the corners yet, but so far I am ok with the mass of it, it handles just fine and I love the stock exhausts so will not change them.

Last week my lead acid bike battery was flat after not having been ridden for a few weeks. I grabbed a lithium battery that's been sitting around for almost four years and jump started my bike with it! It was last in my Yamaha R3 that I sold in 2017.

Are we sure it's actually directly mounted? From the spy shots I definitely thought so too but from the launch video it almost looked as if there was some sort of a linkage there.

"Edit" while writing: Decided to go look for the clip and found a newly uploaded one that had this shot where it's clearly visible:

Vid was from the US which was a suprise. Here's the whole video for anyone interested:

Its just the power delivery of the V-twin. It's instant and always there. Yes it wants to wheelie but I love that. Overtakes at any speed too. You don't have to wind it up. Yes the speed triple is fast and grunty, no doubt about that! A big V-twin just takes it up a notch but it will run out of rpm's sooner. Good trade off for a road bike though as you don't tend to ride about everywhere at 10,000+

These curves were shown on one of the Triumph Vids. The 1160 beats the 1050 above about 5k but lower below that. It has more torque and more power but it's higher revs

    For reference:

Though I'd like to point out that Cycle World tends to dyno 2K rpms up, so we're missing 2-3.5K data here, which is what people are gonna want to know ... especially since bore/stroke changed from 79x71 to 90x61 ... more bore, shorter stroke!

For the 1200 RS, the lithium battery was specifically stated to be a 2.3 kg (5.1 lbs) savings. Clearly there was more that 22 lbs saved here and there ... what got heavier then? Heh.

    Thanks for the power curves!
I am not much interested in above 7000.
Seems it will be a tad punchier under 4000, which is nice.
I am curious to test ride this thing, mainly to check if they fixed the gearbox/QS.

All of the comparisons are irrelevant between the 1050 and 1160. The only thing that matters is will the q/s and gearbox work. If they do it's a massive step forward.
