I concur completely. Had to go in to work on Friday. Got "lost" on the way and 2 mile journey lasted 25 miles!! Much better feeling all round. Very pleased. I also prefer the look of the fork top nuts to adjusters, especially as I have clip ons that show the top yolk in all its glory! 100% on the way the tires handle (not) banding etc.

Booked my Rocket in for it's first service on the 19th of this month so I thought I better put some miles on her as it's essential it has at least 600 miles on it before the service!

Slipped up on the "today" part of this thread title but deciding to not take it literally since I'm a few days behind. Started the weekend early with a ride Thursday that took us by this lovely lake.
    20210304_134140.jpg

and it was the first time I had my panniers on the bike. Love them and now I can carry whatever I need instead of asking HH to put stuff in his bags for me.
    20210304_134239.jpg

On the way, we took a short detour through a park to check out the camping areas and stopped in the ranger station. Had a nice visit with the ranger about the camping and the park being named after a WWII vet lost in a sub.

We'd planned to stop in a small town just across the Georgia border in South Carolina a bit more than halfway in the trip. I'd hoped we'd have time for a short visit and a bite; but since we'd gotten a later start than planned, by the time we got there HH said we'd better head home so we'd be back in time to pick up our kids from after school activities. I was leading and thought we surely at least had time for a bite of something. HH is a sucker for ice cream so when I spotted a pharmacy with an ice cream counter I knew I had my ticket. I suggested that since we didn't have time for lunch we could have a quick treat. We shared a butter pecan milkshake on the bikes in the sun. I realized too late I should have snapped a pic for fun which made me think of @Dartplayer (lamingtons, anyone?). To make up for it, here's an errant pic I did take at some point:
    20210304_141151.jpg

We rode the 85 miles home and swapped out bikes for minivans and headed different directions to collect our young charges. Yes, we were late (my fault for tempting HH with his weakness) but they didn't suffer any for it and it was a great 200 mile ride in perfect weather.

On Friday we did get our lunch out after a ride through the countryside to get there. Even better it was a free lunch because we had gift certificates won at a neighborhood party back in 2019 when things like that used to be held. Yes, we've been hanging on to them that long because of Covid...glad the place is still in business because other places we won GCs for have gone belly up.

    20210305_143443.jpg

When we were leaving, their chickens came out to see us off.

    20210305_143845.jpg

    Ride safe.

This week end I did a little mod on the blinker location.
The blinkers were between the side cases. Not really safe. So I made a pair of aluminium brackets, a bit of soldering and moved the blinkers higher, attached to the rack tubes.

Cheers mate, I love that bike... Not too shabby looking either for a coming on to 16 years old bike, me thinks.

Got the old Trophy through the MOT today, new front discs ,pads front and rear, a full set of new seals and two days of strip and rebuild. It's put 40% on the value of the bike!

After changing the blinker location, the place where the cable pops out was not really nice. I created and 3D printed 2 little pieces to achieve something neater.

Today I installed a Healtech Thunderbox to my Tiger 900GT.

Well, that's not what I imagined. The portaloos on sites were called thunderboxes when I was still out getting cold, muddy and miserable. Now I've looked it up seems just the thing so the bike doesn't get confused in the electrical dept. Nice one.

It’s a great product for people like me who have no idea about vehicle electrics.

    Me too.

    a) Didn’t really need to go in.
    b) Stayed for an hour. Long enough for a nice cappuccino from the machine (and a kit Kat).
    c) went home.
    d) the very long way.

Actually I did need to visit the office and it was all legit. Totally enjoyed the ride though.

I’ve been putting this job off all winter. I can’t put it off any longer as the end of lockdown and better weather is on the horizon. I know if I don’t do it my riding season could be problematic. I’ve studied countless YouTube videos and done my research. Toolkit has been cleaned and prepared. The elusive 10mm socket is in place. Garage floor freshly painted and I’ve cleaned my disassembly pot out of all the bolts and screws that weren’t really needed on the bike when I last disassembled it and couldn’t find the place for em during the rebuild. Wish me luck....... Today is the day. My challenge... New battery in the SpeedTriple Key Fob...:scream:

The 10mm socket will come in useful. Don’t lose it!
