    The height of his career was the 70’s-80.

    Lets recap the clues,,,,,

    He’s English.
    He’s a retired racer although he does a few guest appearances on Classic race bikes.
    He’s won world championship races and won a world championship.
    The height of his career was in the 70’s-80.

    Another clue,,,,he first stood on the top step of the podium at a world championship round in 1973.

    i didn't really get into bike racing until i got sky tv ..late eighties..probably heard his name but haven't a scoobies :blush:

    OK guys looks like your all struggling.

    BIG clue,,,,he’s won 9 TT’s with 3 being world championship events (the TT lost its world championship status in 1976) so he won 3 world championship races, hence he stood on the top step of the podium.
    He won one Classic TT in the 2000’s.

    If you can’t get the answer I’ll give you clues about his world championship win.
