Hi, I have been searching for alu panniers and a higher windscreen for my 2019 1200 scrambler. Have anyone tried the offering from Unit garage?

Just ordered one - not sure how long it will take to arrive but looks like a good option. Planning to use mine with soft luggage such as the Giant Loop bags or if I get rich the MoskoMoto kit.

Well the panniers turned up quick and we’ll packaged. UK import duty set me back about £70 and I did use an EROI number which may have helped speed things up.

Not yet fitted the panniers but they look great. Offered up one side and the fit looks good. The finish is the same finish as the stock engine bars and rear hand rail - top job.

photo attached of the panniers and the 1st page of instructions.

    More to come.

Got the off side pannier mounted over the exhaust last night - instructions are a bit lacking, there was a bit of head scratching but I go there in the end. Got to say, for a tangle metal, it's pretty sweet. I'll post some pics once they are both fitted along with some detailed shots on the mounting points.

Got a bit further tonight fitting the panniers in between work, home schooling and other chores (the joys of being a grown up). Anyhow it’s starting to come together - my only concerns are the proximity of the passenger foot peg bolt to the rear swing arm and the bolt alignment at point ‘C’. The the foot peg bolt could be resolved with a little fettling but as I’d had to stop playing I pinged a photo over to Unit Garage to see what they thought.

Couple of pics - please don’t judge me on the dirt ;O

Unit Garage have come back which shows that their customer service is working :)

    The advice was:
“This is not a problem as the swingarm does not move side to side, it only goes up and down. It is correctly mounted.
if you prefer, you could add a small washer underneath the screw head. But as I said, it is not necessary.”

Confirmation that all is fitted correctly and a confident response - can’t argue with the logic that the swing arm should not move side to side.

Some form of OCD in me does not like it being so close so I will make some minor adjustments to increase the clearance. I’ll add a better photo.

What else. The mounts in C I mentioned above could do with a nylon spacer to centralise and support the bolts - very minor and picky so not a real issue.

Oh and the bolts for the brace that runs across the back take a different size Allen key to all the other existing bolts. Trivial really but keeping them the same would have been nice.

Looks good! Will you opt for soft or hard panniers?

Can you just turn the bolt around so the bolt head is near the swingarm and the nut and bolt is on the other side?

I like your thinking Haro! The bolt head recesses behind the foot peg but swapping it around might be an option - I’ll have a look in mo :)

Got there in the end after far too much faffing on a simple job.

Only option to resolve the clearance issue in end was to trim down the spacer and bolt. Maybe not required but I’m happy now.

Rear brace may clash with some of the tail tidies - one to watch out for.

Looks sturdy! You will probably need some kind of bracket to fasten rhe panniers on the right side, bmw style.

Yes, thank you Uppers for your efforts! I think that the corona situation will impair any plans of traveling abroad this summer so I plan to make my 1200 scrambler into a capable long distance tourer in Norway. Now that the pannier seems sorted its time to consider the fairing option from Garage. Has anyone tried it yet?

Finally got my Unit Garage frames installed. Like you said, that one bolt on the left foot peg should be shortened about 0.5 inches. They are secure now and well built. I also ordered the adapter plate. My Mosko Moto 25L Scout Panniers are on order and will post photos when I get everything installed. Thanks again for the post and photos.
