Scrambler - Cat and Fiddle.JPG Thanks for the welcomes and p!ss takes. You've gotta laugh at yourself, and I keep finding new reasons to do so. I managed a ride out to Macc / Cat & Fiddle / Buxton / Bakewell. Limited to 50mph most of the time, and stuck behind tin boxes, but still great bends to roll around. Lots of lovely bikes out, including a blue Scrambler!!! heading into Buxton as I headed back out to the Cat & Fiddle. It was almost as good looking as my red and silver one ;)

Newbie moment of the day: Trying to fill the tank to the top, I managed to pull the hose out just a little too far, and sprayed everything in sight. Oh well, it should make it easier to rub the excess chain oil off the bike, after setting the Scottoiler to 'prime' on my last ride out.

Now on 482 miles, with the first service booked for next week. Spot the difference between the photos: about 15mph extra in the grin zone in my case!

    Hi Si,

Good luck with the new bike. My (third hand - but new to me) 2002 Bonnie arrives next week after a 30 year break from biking. Apprehensive, yes - but will take it steady and cant wait! Just want some sunny rays to hit Cornwall this summer.

    Enjoy the Bonnie!
I've been away for 10 years, and my last spell was a brief interlude following 20 years without a bike. I love this bike, and am enjoying it a lot. I met a chap at the Cat and Fiddle who put me onto the Police Handbook, and Mike Waite's DVD and courses. I now have a returning biker session booked. It only makes sense after passing a test that required me to ride without stabilisers for ten minutes, almost 40 years ago. Could be worth a look!

I am exactly the same. Got my full licence in the early 80's and remember the man with the clipboard. I am going to book a 1:1 session with one of the instructors down here. I think its around £120 for a full days training...so I think that would be a good investment. There are a few more cars around now ....even in Cornwall. I'll look out the police handbook and Mike Waite's DVD's. Thanks for the tip.

Spoiler alert: "the difference" is the Dart Flyscreen - I've not had one before and was well impressed and not a little surprised by the effect. The upright riding position made speed a self-limiting factor. The addition of the flyscreen lifts that into legal limit territory, and has added a sense of stability that saw me tackling corners in a rather more robust manner. Huge grins!

Pain isn't it? I miss-timed the 500 mile service on the Tiger and had to sit looking at it for a couple of days!

The Dart flyscreen made a big difference on my Bonnie - surprising for it's size but worth fitting.

What a blast... a quick ten miles twisting round the lanes of Pickmere, Antrobus, Tabley. Way too much fun before breakfast and today's rain.

I always thought that "looking ahead" was about safety. After watching Mike Waite's DVD and focusing more on the vanishing point, I'm tackling those twisties with much more gusto, having fun and feeling safer too.

My Scrambler is coming to life, and I even found myself wanting to fit some noisy pipes and wake the locals up (to share my fun of course)!
