Gone ahead and flushed the brakes. Fluid wasn’t dirty or cloudy, just a bit dark.

It was an easy one person job using a vacuum bleeder.

Next a set of new pads front and rear and cleaning up the calipers. They don’t look too bad at all, just a bit dirty.

Rear brakes done. Pads on both ends were getting a bit thin.

New ones have a good bit more meat on the bone.

    Sure it’s brake fluid...

Looks like there’s too much protein in it - should tell ur bike to lay off eating rich food.

It's a long time I'm thinking about one of those vaccum pump.
    Is that a good investment?

I think so. Unless I had freakishly long arms it would have been near impossible to bleed the rear while pumping the brake from opposite sides of the bike without another person assisting. Besides, it can multitask a a Swedish penis enlarger. Or so I’ve heard...

It was a gorgeous afternoon and I was sorely tempted to ride, but I resisted and finished off my maintenance list. New brake pads and a brake system flush, oil change, coolant flush and fill, cleaned and lubed anything that is supposed to move, tightened anything that isn’t supposed to. I hope that gets me sorted for the years riding, unless I break something.

Bikes washed and polished and a tidy up of the garage. Doesn't matter how much space I have, I seem to fill it. Its almost like Tetris.

Finally got a day over 60F , took a 3hr ride and broke 4000 miles. Time for some new tires , ordered up a set of Metzeler Sportec RR's to replace the Racetec RR K3's that came stock . That should hold me for this season , as I'll have the 2 other bikes to spread the riding out. ( 2021 Ducati Supersport S, HD Street Glide)

I worked it out in ten minutes.Slight problems with current data, but managed it in the end. I didn’t progress to explore what was available to identify you - only because I am hungry and will wander downstairs to hint strongly that it’s time for nourishment.

Just finished fitting gas shocks to my Street Cup. Originals did not feel good! Need an excuse to test now!! I have a set of progressive springs for the forks too but realised I dont have a 30mm spanner or socket so will have to wait a few days to do those.

:laughing:Your garage is better arranged than my closet!:joy: Better looking, too; but that's because I don't hang my riding gear there and there's nothing with two wheels in it either.

This was an afternoon of a lot of firsts:
First ride of the year which required no fleece layers under my jacket and pants and I didn't have to thaw my hands afterwards.:) It was a too short 75 miles that had to end because it's time to divide and conquer with the kids (I'm off to one's track meet in a bit and HH is off to another's tennis match). I do feel incredibly fortunate to be able to squeeze in a ride on a weekday afternoon.

This is also the first ride since my 500 miles MX and installation of some shiny items: dresser bars, pannier racks, center stand (not shiny or visible) and grab rail and rack. Bike with rack and bars.jpg

Haven't put on the panniers yet or my new ACG cover...wanted to enjoy the other adds for a while first...stringing out the fun of installing new thingies!

Not that I needed them today, also had the heated grips installed...I like that the controller is integrated so neatly on the grip and they show on the display (lo, high, off). I'm sure we'll have some cool days again before this winter is over so I'll get to try them when it matters.
    Integrated heated grips control.jpg

Is it my imagination or does the bike sound different now with the break-in oil replaced? Also this was the first time I heard a cooling fan kick on and off.

My new Arai Regent X helmet finally arrived yesterday (the first one I ordered 1 Feb got lost somewhere between the warehouse in Las Vegas and Georgia) and I immediately liked the fit:blush:. Today was the first time out with it. It transformed my ride! I could turn my head so much more easily and comfortably; the aerodynamics was noticeably better than the Shoei I've been wearing. In fairness, I've had that Shoei for far too long so that accounts for part of the fit change but the aerodynamics change is transformative.

Best of all, I felt super comfortable on the bike. It's taken some extra attention to get used to controlling in first and second gears just because the gearing is significantly different from my other bike. For instance, it was very bad:confounded: to shift back to first unless I was at an absolute dead stop on the other; but downshifting to first is definitely necessary on the T100 when going around some slow turns and it accepts it beautifully smoothly. And I have to start off differently or else I'm grabbing way too much torque in first and second. Just want more miles (oh, the hardship;)) to know I'm fully engrained with the right techniques.

Just wondering, which shocks and springs did you go for? Please give a report on how they do.

This isn't about what's going on with my Triumph but still one in my garage:). My HH had to ride his HD today because his T140 is not cooperating. His clutch plates were sticking together on a previous ride so he had to come back to the house to switch to his HD that day. Since then, he's taken apart the T140's clutch assembly
    T140 clutch case.jpg

and cleaned the plates. His very old repair manual advised cleaning them in gasoline but he opted for a slightly less carcinogenic option (I hope). Then he lightly sanded them to give them slightly roughened surfaces to prevent them adhering/suctioning to each other.
    T140 clutch plates.jpg

He reassembled it this morning in anticipation of riding it with me today; but then he remembered the sealant needed to cure for at least 24 hours so it was back on the HD again (he's not exactly suffering...if nothing else, the seat on it is crazy comfortable). Won't know if the cleaning and roughing up cured the clutch problem until we get a chance to try it out after the sealant's
cured. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain.

If you’re doing the front and it’s worth fitting the preload adjusters as well, then you can really dial the suspension settings in I’ve recently done mine,it’s totally transformed the it handles,
