I much prefer an unobtrusive moron to an oxymoron! The fender extender is carbon effect and looks ok. Fits well with 3M tape. I have not made holes in the original fender to secure it but this is an option.
It'd have to be a drastic need for me to drill holes in my fender. If the 3M tape is doing the job then that's a go. For some reason some of the other posts elsewhere on the forum have put a concern in my head about my T100 radiator needing additional protection...or that could be moronic?
Can't afford the exorbitant prices that decorative aftermarket parts cost so tend to make a lot of my own bits and/or modify or delete parts. Parts I have bought include the rear shocks which I replaced for practical reasons - I could not set the sag with the standard shocks. Replaced the wheels for practical reasons too - gets rid of the rusty spokes, reduces weight and gives me a proper tubeless set up. Chose to also splash out on Brembo floating discs, not because of any braking problems but to further reduce weight and improve steering response. Fitted an aluminium Husquvarna oil filler cap from Aliexpress for $11, and have Chinese replica Honda foot pegs which are a much better design than Triumphs fitment and cost $15. Parts I have made include chain guard, RH heel guard (deleted the LH one), 'Amal float bowl' covers, 'points' cover, and instrument bracket.
Superb...especially like the "points" cover and heel guard. Wheels look great. The prices are high...trying to stick to changing just what bothers me on my T100 instead of just changing nice for also nice. Brand new so no rusty spokes but if that ever gets to be a problem nice to know an alternative.
Thanks. Mine was new in 2017, the spokes started rusting the first time I washed it! There are other rusty bits appearing as well, which given the pampering it gets is pretty poor. Have been trying to keep ahead of some of the rust problems by, for instance, replacing Triumphs 'hardware store' grade nuts and bolts with stainless.
Unfortunately that seems to be a common problem. There's another thread on the forum (First Triumph For Years And Already Problems) about a new bike having corrosion issues immediately. Very disappointing. Gives me heads up on what to watch out for.
