Hi there just sold my 2000 XRV 750 and purchased a 2009 Tiger 1050- good move?

The bike hasn't arrive yet and im just looking for any friendly advice on good and bad points or even what to look out for.

The bike is coming fully service and has all the luggage, 34 miles. Wheels will be refurbed etc.

Only bad point is the heated grips don't work?

    Thanks for reading

Welcome ! Since I was born in Detroit, I used to root for the Detroit Tigers. Does that count ????

    Welcome, Bienvenue,
Time for you to enjoy a 3 cylinder. :)
IMO the Africa Twin is a wonderful bike too.

Installing new heated grip is not very difficult.

A neighbour made a great 1050 find with low mileage and excellent condition. He’s really pleased with it.

The only thing he did was to get a lowering kit. Why are bikes all designed for people with gangly legs? Thankfully Triumph do low versions but not of all manufacturers think shorter people can afford their kit so don’t bother to make normal bikes in different sizes. Even bicycle manufacturers do different frame/wheel options. Rant over.

    Welcome to the forum...

No its actually miles- I haven't received the bike yet from the garage but I think was a UK registered bike orginally!.

Ps any good recommendations re the screen? I see a lot of posts that the stock one is poor?

And also panniers- waterproof liners any recommendations?

    Thanks!!

Check the rear preload adjuster is free and working before you load up for a trip and decide you need it, they can seize up and be quite tough to free up.

I have a Tiger 800 so I probably don't meet your requirements but I can say the Tiger is a fine machine that looks good and behaves well with enough power and agility to have some fun without scaring you witless.
    Good move and welcome.
