Hello all, I've just joined the forum. I am from London and picked up my 2020 Street Triple RS ten days ago. I've come from a 2002 Honda CBR600F which I've had for years, so a fair jump in terms of style and technology!

Attached is a photo of me back in 2014 on a 675 R which I test rode and loved. But I didn't go for it back then as I thought something like the CBR with its big seat would be good for riding two up with my girlfriend. However, she has barely been on the bike since a wet, week-long tour around Ireland a few years back. I have tried every Street Triple R/RS since so it's been something I have been after for while. So I thought I would be more selfish this time and just get what I wanted.

Mine is stock with a few additions including various protection and heated grips. Today I added an Evotech radiator guard and front and rear spindle bobbins.

I can't wait for dry roads to stretch it's legs and enjoy the thing!

Welcome to the family. Very additive steed there Totally different to the bike you have had. Just take it gingerly for a day or two let the steed gel with you .
    Joe.

Hello, and thank you Joe. I have actually only ridden it in rain mode so far, as the roads have been wet and very cold! Can't wait for Spring!

Welcome along for the ride, Eamonn. I’m sure we can all sympathise with your lack of riding. It’s been such a cold, wet winter, not to mention the lockdown, that we’re all going a bit stir crazy waiting for sunshine and freedom to return.
If it carries on like this much longer we might have to rename the forum ‘Springwatch’.

Greetings and welcome to the forum, Eamonn! Thanks for sharing photos and a bit of your motorcycle history with us. I'm sure you must be very excited for the opportunity to get that beautiful new bike out on the roads.:):sun:

As a woman who has ridden pillion in the past on my hubby's H-D Fat Boy, I had to laugh when you described the CBR seat as "big". :joy: I suspect that depends on your perspective. I don't need to know your girlfriend to say I'm not surprised that she has barely been on the bike since doing a week-long tour while perched on that "big" seat. ;) Ouch! Has she ever expressed interest in riding her own bike?? I thought I might still want to ride on the back of hubby's bike now and again even after I started riding my own bike, but now we both find it more fun to ride together but on separate bikes.

Hope you enjoy the forum, Eamonn!

Hi Sandi, and thanks for the welcome.

The CBR600F (compared to the F Sport and the RR after that) does have as big a double seat as you'll find on anything short of a dedicated tourer. And with the top box to lean against it offered acceptable comfort. But I definitely don't blame my girlfriend for not enjoying a week on the bike - especially as it rained every day despite it being July! It was amusing chatting with some bikers on Gold Wings who were also enjoying Ireland on two wheels, they were in such luxurious comfort in comparison, heated seats and all.

I would love for my gf to ride herself, but she has no interest in bikes, despite being from a motorcycling family.

No complaints really as it's good to have your own interests.

Great photos, Eamonn! Yes, from that angle that passenger space looks decent. Maybe some day your girlfriend will have a change of heart. I had no interest in riding my own bike either--until one day I did. And I started later in life. Yes, some of those Gold Wings definitely put one in the lap of luxury! We joke that they do everything except make espresso. :joy:
