    I worked for McVities when the case was in play, our in house legal team did a fantastic job against HMRC. The cost to Mcvities if the case would have gone the other way would have been significant in reduced sales due to a higher price.

    Let’s be clear. ANY Victoria Sponge is a winner in my eyes, but raspberry jam is definitely best.

    The real issue though is what ratio of flour, eggs and butter to use. Mrs figwold swears by Mary Berry’s pound cake recipe, but I’m not sure. I think she needs to make several at the same time for a proper comparison!

    James has always done a fantastic range of puddings and cakes and cheesecakes and stuff at GMU's. They have all been outstanding. But don't tell him I said so.
