    Hi

Never been on any forum before, sorry if any etiquette gets trampled.

Looking for help on a bike my Dad just bought. Story he was told, this black and red T140 was produced in December 1977, as a retirement gift for a lifetime employee. Bike has never been registered, and has only 3 miles on the clock.

Is there anywhere I might find out if this story is true, and who the retiree was and what he did?

    Thanks for any help.

You could look on the TOMCC Site and ask the question there, try dvla, the engine and frame numbers would probably be needed, that would be for wether the bike is genuine. As for the original owner, if you haven't got any reg docs it'll be difficult. I assume if there's no reg docs it could have come straight from factory, maybe he was a triumph employee. Great retirement gift. What condition is it in and who did you buy it from, they must have some form of record. Does it have number plates?

Was abandoned and sold by storage company. Story came from them. Have engine/chassis number but nothing with dvla. Never registered. Is immaculate. Stainless spokes and rims fitted 10 years ago. Totally original otherwise. Just serviced, so it's running again, but my Dad has no idea what to do with it. Too good to ride. TOMCC seems to want £20 before I can go on thier forum. Is that normal?

Yeh forgot the forums for members only.
Someone must have been looking after it if they fitted new rims, just out of interest it would be nice to see a photo of it.
Don't know where you live but if you have any bike museums near you try talking to them, and if you don't want to ride it offer to loan it to them! http://www.nationalmotorcyclemuseum.co.uk
