Ably assisted by covert data mining and Russian voter manipulation. It really is worth reading up on how the integrity of the 2016 election was compromised.
If you have a system where only the middle ground can produce a candidate capable of finding enough swing voters to get elected. Then both sides become incapable of change, the right hand side and the left hand side, are never heard or listened to because they are powerless, and so push against the middle, the middle pushes back, to try to maintain the chance of winning. They split, the middle all start talking to each other, splitters, The outside start talking to themselves too splitters, and each new group become insular. Then the middle becomes the concentred "centre column" (Splitters), a break away, founded on the principles of not listening and holding o to power. This is a perfect system for always/all ways, electing the most popular, ideas / candidates, to office. Also perfect for peeing off extremists. Now all sides, and so all groups become self aware, and only pay attention to the collective political parliament/ congress/house. Because who has the time for anything else. Although they hold power, they have all become separate and so useless. Committees brughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
They could give it ago and if the electorate vote for it then good, its been reversed once already. Personally I think the disrubtion would do more harm than good and we are stuck with it for a few decades. So in the spirt of going along. Hurrah Brexit,
Are you seriously saying the military uniform wearing, armed, men riding around in the back of pick up trucks, is any kind of response to or some kind of right wing equivalent to " moaning liberals "?
@Tom Gillam Do you even know what you were disagreeing with when I posted this, and do you think you know better than the US intelligence services? Seriously mate, get a grip. Oh, and here's some light reading for you.
There, there Sprinter, you know I didn’t say that, you all like to manipulate stuff and another ploy is asking a question when you’ve been asked a question, which is childish. The sad fact of the matter is that much of the recent political unrest has been caused by resentment to neo liberal politics. So before you all start jumping up and down saying I support the recent violence or Trump or whatever comes into your heads, perhaps you should ask yourselves why your liberal beliefs and attitudes have become so unpopular to so many?
A guy that posted once a link to a hugely conspi "truthseeker" web site giving a lesson about "belief" ... well.. And why are you constantly pointing people not in line with your opinions as "liberals" Looks like this word is obsessing you.
Many are asking that question, Tom. All the Democrats that I know and converse with--and I say Democrats rather than "liberals" because that includes a broad spectrum of folks across the liberal to conservative spectrum--are asking that question regularly. And we are very concerned about it.
In 2016 a number of Americans voted for Trump because of their hatred for Hillary Clinton. Or they didn't vote at all. I've wondered many times whether Trump would have won that election if the Democratic candidate was someone--anyone--other than Hillary.
Even then, Sandi, she would almost certainly have won had it not been for the email issue. Which also leads me to Russian election meddling, as mentioned earlier.
Quite possibly Sandi, Perhaps Hillary was a victim of collective arrogance that couldn’t imagine that losing to Trump was even a remote possibility?something similar to that happened over here.
The whole point of my post was to point out how liberals ignore democratic decisions in response to a previous post by @Hubaxe and how they seem to have an attitude that they always know best. Much like catholics think that they are the only one's that go to heaven.
I definitely think that was part of it, Tom. I'm not sure how far-reaching "collective" was but in the aftermath of the 2016 election there were a lot of comments along the lines of "We didn't think he could possibly win." Heck, I heard it reported multiple time and from multiple news sources that Trump didn't think he could win.
So was it a bunch of liberals that stormed Congress last week because they disagreed with a democratic decision? This nonsense that one side has some moral high ground has to stop at some point. We're already seeing the outcome of continuing alarmist rhetoric. History tells us all we need to know about that end game.
