Regular monthly TRMCC ride, :sun:this time we teamed up with the Waikato chapter and rode to Raglan.
Plenty of twisties on the way there and not too much road shrapnel:poop:
Lovely seaside town with good seafood restaurants and plenty of bars. We went to Wharf Kitchen and Bar

I got tired of waiting for better weather, so with the skies clear and the temp at a brisk 3c I decided what the hey. The roads were mostly dry until I headed up into the mountains where the snow that was melting off the trees soaked the roads. The bike got a good rinse when I got home, and the MucOff MO94 I coated the bike with at its last wash let the salt rinse right off.

Really wanted to pretend it was a good day for a ride so I coerced handsome husband into a short ride this afternoon even though he kept saying it was a bit cold...asked me if I wanted to look at the wind chill chart...:Dnope! Been waiting to fit in a few more miles so I can inch closer to breaking in the T100.

Today the sun was shining, our chores were done, and the kids didn't need anything. On went the layers and off we went at the warmest part of the day. The layers handled the chill just fine but my right hand got too cold to go much further than just over 50 miles. Calling the Triumph dealership as soon as they open tomorrow...nope, dang it, Tuesday...to order heated grips to be installed when I bring it in for the 500 mile check. Indulgent but I'm hoping it'll be worth it many times over.

Would have been a perfect ride, even if short and chilly, if we hadn't run across a short stretch of road just about 3 miles from home that had a crew working a water main break...so now my bike looks like this...

I guess we could have left the bikes in the garage and they would still be clean but where's the fun in that? I have an appointment with HH tomorrow to wash them. It's not riding but I'll still be ogling the bikes.

Bikes, cars, twisties, the sea, good food and drink, and good buddies. It doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for posting the great photos of your day, @Dartplayer. Looks like great fun! :):kissing_heart:

Beautiful photos, @OsteKuste! Love that yellow bike of yours. What's the scoop that bag you have on there? I'm always looking for ways to add a smidge of storage space to my Speed Triple.

Thanks, Sandi. The bag is a repurposed handlebar mounted dry bag made by Lomo, a Scottish company that specializes in making such things. I have their dry bag panniers as well. I just ran the straps that hold it to a handlebar around the frame rail under the seat. It’s enough for a wallet, sunglasses, extra pair of gloves, etc.

The official triumph heated grips really don’t get that hot compared to the other brands available IMO!
Oxford ones are brilliant and well warm and a hell of alot cheaper (and harder wearing as an added bonus as the grip is chunkier)

Does anyone know if the engine cover on the EFI Thruxton 900 would be the same as the engine cover on the Bonneville T100 ?

My engine cover looks a bit of a mess and I have seen some nicely priced spares being sold on eBay claiming they’re from a T100 bonnie but also that they’d fit the Thruxton.

just wondered if anyone knew? :)

Thanks for the input, Ducatitotriumph. Guess I should look at alternatives like the Oxford ones. Also mulling over options for a wind screen since seems lots of people prefer something else over the OEM. Like so many things, would have to install it and use it for a bit to decide if I like it. But don't usually have the time or budget to try more than one option so have to get it right to begin with. I'll take a look at the Oxfords.

Might be worthwhile starting a thread asking for peoples suggestions?
I'm only going on my time with oxfords and triumph's ones but I didn't have them on the speedy and thought (for tidiness) i'd go for the official ones.
However, after having oxford ones, i'd definitely get the oxford ones again instead as they are better in every way IMO.

Picked up speedy from the shop today. The valves needed shimming, and the tps sensor was bu**ered. Also 3 new sparkplugs were fitted.
Whilst working on the bike the owner noticed the forkseals, which he replaced some 6500 kilometres ago were sweating. He fitted new seals free of charge as a service!

Took my America for a short spin , round trip of 70 miles/100 km.
Got home and it's not running quite right. Funny knock/banging in the motor , it's not constant. Bit irregular.
Thoughts on it so far , electrical plugs ? Mechanical Valve seat ? Fuel bad fuel or worn out injector nozzle ?

Well it was a great ride until five...ten minutes from home.

Jobs ahead. New plugs change fuel and suck it and see.

Picture of the pub we stopped at.

    cheers capt

Installed the TTP stage 2 kit this morning, a few bleeding knuckles, but nice and straightforward with the right tools. They really are a great company to deal with, I downloaded the wrong tune and within 10 minutes and a phone call it was sorted.
took the thruxton out for a quick spin and it’s instantly solved the snatchy throttle, roll on long summer rides

Took my 2019 Speed Triple in to my local Triumph dealership today to replace the 5-way joystick switch. Lucky for me this squeaked in under the wire for being covered under warranty. :)

Nice pic @capt looks like they’ve had a tidy up.:p
Mrs and I were laughing about how people say Albury Wodonga like they’re one place when they’re in different states. :joy: Best wishes on sorting your ride for the next adventure
